"Song Review of "Homecoming" from Ian Bruce"

"Homecoming" showcases the performance & songwriting smarts of
THE REPUBLIK. They feel good to my ears, brain & heart; making people feel anything, especially good, is what superior musicians do, these young guys appear to be Naturals, born to perform, created to create, music.

Good luck & great success. ian bruce

"Song Review of "We Are One" from Ian Bruce"

The Republik is a young talented creative hardworking band with a strong chorus, for those who love upbeat lyrics & melody. Their song "We Are One" can be a possible anthem for the united nations?

"Ian BruceI got an email from a young band from Florida, to review their music video...."

Few days ago I got an email from a young band from Florida,
Their name is THE REPUBLIK. They asked for a review and quote.
I viewed their video. Their drummer made me heart happy, the vocals
were unique, the lead guitar is a blossoming player and the video was simple but very well done.
The thing is that I think they are 16 to 18 years old and because of their performance, their talent, my music brains hard wired them into my bio-chemical musical pleasures zone.

Perhaps this band will grow into the "next u2".
I want to hear about them because they made several minutes of my life a smile.

love & peace & blessings & honor

"Rockin’ Republik"

Rockin’ Republik

Breaking from garlic mania, folks headed to the main stage to jam to a midday indie-alternative set by Hollywood’s The Republik.
The band cranked out original tracks and Pearl Jam covers.

"Local Band Aims For The Stars"

Colin Healy, Jake Bauman and Alberto Pizzaro our local boys of Dania Beach and Hollywood Beach Fl. They all met at Bethune Elementary where they quickly struck up a friendship. At Bethune is where all three boys learned violin, when each of them started the second grade. The orchestra became the stomping grounds for them and this is where they learned of each other's musical potential. Colin had already begun writing songs at this point, and Jake had always been interested in playing the bass. So together they formed the band The Republik. Beau is also a local Hollywood boy who has been playing the drums since age ten, he joined the band in January 2008

All three of them along with Beau Million went to South Broward High School. - Dania Beach Press June 2008

"Meet Dania's Newest Rock Stars...The Republik"

As front man for the Dania Beach based band, The Republik, Colin and his musical mates have a sound that is getting noticed.
"Last Chance Planet" features songwriting and musicianship you wouldn't expect from a group of four young guys ranging in age from 15-18.
As the group's songwriter, Healy is the spokesman. "What I like about this band is the dedication to our music. When I write a song I hear it a certain way in my head, these guys just seem to consistently make it sound better. They are all great musicians". Check out The Republik and years from now you can say you knew them 'When". - Cahoots Newpaper-Hollywood Fl.

"The Republik and the Music for Which It Stands"

Lots of things are going in 17 year-old Colin Healy's head. Many of those things are songs. "Good ones come quick," the Broward High School senior said. "Sometimes my best songs are pretty much written in five minutes."
Maybe it's their musical pedigree. Colin and Republik bassist and long time friend Jacob Bauman, have formal violin training. Colin and Jacob both began playing violin in the second grade and went on to perform with the Broward County Honors Youth Orchestra.
Bauman is self taught on the bass and has a strong background in music composition. More recently both were Musical Director's and had lead role's in The South Broward High School's production of The Who's rock opera, Tommy.
The CD "Last Chance Planet" is a pleasant surprise. It features great songs with some amazingly key changes and background music harmonies. "I look at songwriting as a maturation process," Healy said. "I like my writing now but I'm sure I'll get better as I get older." CD's are available at The Dania Beach Bar & Grill where they have been the house band for 2 years. It can also be purchased on line at www.cdbaby.com/cd/republik

Bio

THE REPUBLIK is comprised of Jacob Bauman, Colin Healy and brothers, Alberto and Marcos Pizarro. Four friends from the greater Fort Lauderdale area who grew up together in the public school fine arts programs of South Florida. Together, they have recently released their third wholly-independent studio album, "We are the Wild Things."

"We are the Wild Things," produced by the incomparable Brian Viglione of The Dresden Dolls, is a quick 50 minute journey into the psyche of the four young musicians from South Florida.

Based in Fort Lauderdale, the SoFlo musical vacuum might've had it's way with The Republik-- but no. Along with Manhattan-based Stratosphere Studios, Viglione reached out, offered his services and worked his quirky, magical touch into this album. A true collaboration, "We are the Wild Things" is the true voice of a young band looking to break mold and an experienced producer that (in his still-young life) has broken it many times already. So love it or hate it: it's exactly what they intended.

The Republik, comprised of Alberto and Marcos Pizarro, Colin Healy and Jacob Bauman, as all young artists wished to create a new sound. They called it "Rock Nouveau." The band has been labeled an "indie" band for years but "...Wild Things" leans more progressive than The Republik's previous work.

Healy, Bauman and the Pizarro brothers all come from vastly different musical experiences which were plainly drawn upon in the making of this album.

With Healy's lyric and vocal style arriving from his musical theater background, the Bauman bass-work deriving from his young but vast experience in the rock scene, the jazz influence and love of 80's metal that can only be commingled in the mind of Bird and the younger Pizarro, Marcos' experience in the meter-changing, fast-paced world of marching band-- "We are the Wild Things" is certainly a hodge-podge of style.

If it were a stew, it'd be good in your mouth-- but for now you'll have to settle for it feeling good in your ear.
