"GLO Shines Bright With "On The Outside""

On one side, I believe GLO is a thinking man’s band. The modern rock trio’s bio reflects that sentiment as well as each song on their new CD “On The Outside”. You cannot deny that the songs on their sophomore effort are well written and composed. At first glance, this album is genuinely nice and well mannered. I mean GLO is a band you could bring home to meet your parents and they would adore them.

But then there is the other side…

“It’s dirtier...sexier and dirtier,” says Rick Cordi(vocals, guitar) about On The Outside in comparison to the band’s self titled debut album. “This album is as solid as any modern rock effort because of the quality of the songwriting and the music’s intensity.”

This is the side that keeps you coming back for more. Get past the glances and flirtation… This is the side your mother warned you about… In fact, you may not get enough. And if you can’t get enough, simply replay the songs.

Seriously though, GLO is a band with enormous talent and their “On The Outside” CD is quality and worth purchasing for your music collection. The songwriting is mature and music lovers will appreciate the melody. All the songs are worth listening to.

The first two singles that have been released are “Move Along” and “On The Outside”. Both songs have been well received by radio and fans. Aside from those songs, “Follow Through”, “Bend” and “Sideline” are my personal favorites. I loved the guitar riff in “Sideline”.

GLO is based out of Montreal and comprised of Cordi, Eddie Mazzola (guitar, keyboard) and Pat Rowan (drums). A bass player has been added to the live show line-up. “On The Outside” contains 10 songs and was mixed in L.A. by producer Paul Lani (U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Megadeth).

“The level of creativity and quality of these songs speaks for itself. We really work on these songs. It’s not just about a cool riff and our own goal. We work with what’s best for the song. What can make it better without losing that initial spark which started the whole idea. There aren’t any egos or ownership of the songs either. This is Glo and this is where we’re at.”- GLO

"Everett Album Reviews "Glo- On The Outside""

I threw in my copy of Glo’s “On the Outside” and was blindsided by the amazing vocals and catchy chorus orchestration. The rock pop sensibility that is on display on the Montreal trio’s new album is impossible to deny from start to finish. At first I was hesitant to a new Montreal based band due to
the fact that for the last few years other then Arcade Fire there had been nothing that peaked my interest. I was blown away by “Bend” the third track off “On the Outside” and what sounds like it is a missing track from STP’s upcoming album. Rick channels the spirit of Scott Weiland in the vocal department as well as the lyrics and out of all the songs from “On the Outside” I find myself coming back to “Bend” over and over again.

Their first single “Move Along” is gaining heavy radio play and once the first chorus comes in it is hard to dislike this acoustic gem. With Paul Lani behind the glass, the producer that has worked on some of my favorite albums including Megadeaths “So Far, So Good..So What”. Lani’s pop sensibility is not lost on “On the Outside” and he has put the final touches on an album the Montreal
scene can be very proud of. If “On the Outside” is heard by the right people this could be one of Canada’s break out albums of 2010.

My only complaint is a need for more bass, I am a massive fan of the root of the song in a riff or a bass drum groove and throughout this album I find my self wanting Duff McKagan or Cliff Burton to bust out a solid jam. Every song has room for bass fills and runs but they just do not come. This is truly the only hole from start to finish on this album.

With bass absence aside this is a great album that any I Mother Earth, HIM and Fuel fan would truly love. Montreal and Canada should both be proud to provide a great rock group to the radios of Canada that has the capability and the album to score multiple number one hits. Glo is on their way to be one of Canada’s golden rock bands along side Moist, OLP and the Headstones.

"Featured USA4real Artist: "glo on the outside""

Our 3rd Canadian Artist of the Month in the past 4 months, 2nd from Montreal, a three piece band called glo strikes some powerful chords to become our June AOM. Their title track "On the Outside" which jumped from #11 just 2 weeks ago to #4 meets the approval of our Upstream Radio Listeners.

glo's 10-song album, mixed in L.A. by producer Paul Lani (U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers), is now on the shelves and the first single, Move Along, is already moving up the rock charts. “It’s really the level of songwriting and sheer musicality that puts these guys above the rest” - Paul Lani. Rick (vocals, rhythm guitars), Eddie (guitars, bass), and Patrick (drums) first came together a few years ago and released the self-titled debut glo. The album spawned a number of songs that were featured on TV and film soundtracks, including the single Wither.

This trio stands out with an audio slave appeal. Not sure if it's Rick's Cornell looks or his well held notes from a deep place inside. We certainly will have to keep a good ear on glo to see what lies ahead for this very talented group of artists.

Bio

Multi-talented, Canadian alt-rockers GLO are excited to announce the release of their latest musical offering entitled No One Hears Me. The album is a strong blend of unyielding melodic prowess with catchy, fast-paced anthems, as well as beautiful flowing ballads that redefine the modern rock genre. No One Hears Me was recorded with the help of platinum-certified record producer John Nathaniel. It is a libidinously sweaty commingling of three extraordinarily talented musicians and is not to be missed. No One Hears Me will be released in April 2012.

Comprised of Eddie Mazzola (guitarist / keyboardist & bassist), Patrick Rowan (drummer) and Riccardo "Rick" Cordi (vocalist / rhythm guitars), GLO has had much success in Canada with their previous album called On The Outside. The lead single off that album - "Move Along" - took over the rock charts for four solid months — an accomplishment by any standards, let alone one for a completely autonomous band. Every recording on their previous CD — including the song "Move Along" was tracked, produced and engineered in Mazzola's own studio, but for the final mix the group turned to veteran Los Angeles producer/engineer Paul Lani (Red Hot Chili Peppers & Megadeth).
