"SKROU releases second video in support of debut CD"

Canadian band Skrou have just released the second video from their self-titled debut record. After releasing a video for "A Place To Shake", the band has chosen the song "Rock It Away" for their latest video release.

Regarding the new video Skrou frontman Sam Kirou told Sleaze Roxx, "We had great feedback from our first video release "A Place To Shake" and the crowds that showed up to be in the video. We chose "Rock It Away" as our second song [for a video] because we believe it's a catchy tune and it's a positive attitude kind of song. Our bassist, RC Ricci, came up with the theme for "Rock It Away" about showing some vices people have. And we just built on that but we wanted to portray it in a fun over the top way but not in a negative way."
Skrou are one of the hardest working original independent bands, having played over 150 shows since forming in 2011 and over 40 shows alone in 2014, mostly concentrated in southern Ontario in Canada. The band focuses on delivering a modern rock sound with an '80s feel to it. The band is comprised of lead vocalist Sam Kirou (whose name was used to derive the band's moniker), guitarist John DeFino, bassist RC Ricci and drummer Eric Bonatti.

With respect to what the future holds for Skrou, Kirou advised Sleaze Roxx that, "In 2015, we are hoping to get on tour with some bigger bands and play more and get more exposure. We will release a new CD in the spring of 2015."

"Rock and Roll Is Not Dead"

SKROU, from Toronto has evolved from a fun time covers band into a lean mean touring machine. A debut CD to promote, they are playing shows all around Ontario every weekend and promoting every single show relentlessly. I am aware of their every move due to the tireless non stop promotion from singer Sam Kirou. If you are looking for a place to shake, check out SKROU.

"SKROU Debut Cd Review"

I often turn on the radio just to be disappointed. I listen and wonder what happened to “rock” music, with artitsts like Lorde topping Billboards charts. So when I listened to the music from Skrou’s upcoming album I couldn’t help but smile. It instantly made me want to turn the stereo up. It’s rock n roll, it’s something that I would keep in my record collection…As opposed to something I woud hear on Toronto’s “number one new rock radio,” and immediately turn off.

From the first song “Place to Shake,” you get a taste of what Skrou is all about. Loud, dirty, old fashioned rock n roll. The record is drenched with hair metal influences, the likes of Kiss, Crue and Van Halen. It’s no surprise the band has shared the stage with acts such as Helix, Micheal Shenker and Gypsy Rose (who are signed by Gene Simmons). The mix of strong vocals, soaring guitars, grooving bass lines and solid drumming remind you what rock n roll was, but gives you a fresh new taste.

The album is packed with “party rock” songs, filled with anthems that make you just want to stop what your doing and rock out, but it’s so much more than that. Tracks like Eye Catcher give you a taste of how much musical talent truly is in this band, with a ripping guitar solo starting off the song; but its song like the rock ballad “Awake in The Sun” that show you how diverse the band can be with their strong songwriting skills. The ten song album is a great listen the whole way through.
If you’ve been missing your daily dosage of hair metal and are looking for something new, Skrou’s new album is a must listen. They’ll be hitting up Toronto on April 11th at Legends on the Queensway for their album release party, which promises to be one hell of a good show! - Dropout Entertainment
