"SkyeHook Rocks the Foundation"

SkyeHook brought the house down at
the Foundation Nightclub opening for
Stealing Time. Their one hour set
of original material got the crowd going
and inspired the venue to open
the windows out onto the street
where a crowd gathered to watch the spectacle!
The height of the performance had
to be the song "Your Other Left"
which the band has become known for.
By the end of the set drummer
Sarah McGuire was standing and
pounding the drums while bassist
Troy Weronski abused his bass
while punching the symbols and left
the crowd cheering and on their
feet! Definitely a band to watch!

"MORE THAN ONE STAR AT MUSIC FESTIVAL!"

JULY 28TH, 2009
One Star Studio is celebrating its anniversary and highlighting local talent by hosting the first One Star Studio Music Festival. The festival, to be held at the Foxx Lounge Wednesday through Saturday, features a number of local bands that have been helping to create the music scene in Barrie.
Shane Heath, festival organizer and owner/operator of One Star Studio, said he saw the need for a local rock festival and went to work.
“I’ve been a part of the music scene in Barrie for about 10 years and I’ve also toured a lot around North America. Promoting the studio over the years, I’ve seen a lot of great bands and I thought that Barrie needed something to showcase rock,” he said.
Heath, who also runs the Foxx Lounge, said he had no problem finding talented musicians to take part. “I basically picked the best bands that have come through the Foxx Lounge, the ones with the biggest draw and the biggest fan base to be involved,” he said.
Each night, the festival offers up a different style of music. Wednesday is an all-ages event that will showcase up-and-coming talent. Thursday features alternative rock, Friday is rock n’ roll, and Saturday features a heavy metal showcase.
Featured bands include the Jimmy Stone Radio Show, Beyond Haven, Richmond Switch,
Skyehook, and Signal to Sound.

Bio

The story so far... SKYEHOOK is a Canadian band that formed in Barrie, Ontario around January of 2007.
The band began conceptually when local musician Jaedy McGuire, began regularly performing in the thriving local Jam scene.
This would be the common thread that would connect all four members of Skyehook.

The musical connection and camaraderie was instant and it was only a matter of time
before the four permanently joined forces.
A common saying within the band is: "We'll play a broom closet if there's an audience in it!"
Fortunately they have only had to play a few closets soon drawing a steadily growing number of fans known affectionately as Hookies.

Each musician brings a wealth of diverse influences to SKYEHOOK
- (from rock, alt and punk, to grunge and blues to classical and ambient). Each song is a story well told with power, virtuosity and manic intensity!
The rest is history' in the making.

The name SKYEHOOK is derived from a poem turned song named Deluge
which illustrates the bands musical mission statement: The emancipation of the human spirit through music.
