Artist Information

Biography

From the first single off his debut album (SIGNS) you will know where this artist is coming from, and where he expects to meet you after this musical “encounter of the first kind”. Lyrically charged simplified melodies and music that will stop you, and then get you up and moving. Fusing a little hip hop, a steady balance of reggae under a mirage of rock guitar riffs “ Hip Rock Reggae”, Peleja has created a style all his own, with the exception of his vocal styling which has an underlying tone as that of the late great” Robert Nesta Marley”. This comes from the passion of being a proglamator. Teaming up with the super producer Michael Moses “ High Rize Entertainment”, PeleJa has captured the essence of what his musical destiny has always been. To champion injustice that even the blind will see, benevolent to equality even the deaf will hear, and to proclaim Christ in a way the world can relate to. Within it all showing love that surpasses all understanding, the love of God. It has been a very humbling beginning, born on the Caribbean Island of Antigua, at the age of 10-11 he started listening to the music of Bob Marley and the Wailers, “Who the Cap Fit” on his mothers jukebox at The Way Side Tavern. Just loving the music not appreciating the lyrical content. After witnessing the response towards a local Artist “Calypsonian “by the name of Latumba he began to put the music and words together. From that point Noel “PeleJa” knew that he wanted to be a musician.
His Journey begins with the move to New York City in 1983, where young Noel concentrated on school sports and was a standout on his William Howard Taft high school soccer team. During this time PeleJa began to sing and write music but something was missing a key element. After attending and Joining a small Church Willing Workers Baptist Church in the Bronx he found what was missing “God”. As faith would have it he stumbled upon “Exodus” an album recorded by Bob Marley and the Wailers while in the car of his current pastor he was told he can borrow it but to this day it has never been returned. It was tracks 3 and 4 “ So much thing to say”, “ The Hedens”, and respectfully that struck a cord. This man was singing about the same things he was studying in the bible. PeleJa went out and purchased every recording he could find of the Wailers. He was mesmerized by their musical and lyrical genius. PeleJa began to write poems about his life, life in general and about God and his son Christ Jesus. Now realizing that the contents of God cannot be exhausted he found his foundation , his format, and a topic he can forever write about without coming up short on words especially after devoting his life to Christianity. But don’t label PeleJa as a Christian Artist you may get the wrong perception. PeleJa is a Christian who loves music, and expects to touch the world with Christ by it.
