The Staxx Brothers

Genre: Soul
Secondary Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap Seattle, Washington USA Contact

Left to their own devices with Scott Colburn, The Staxx Brothers return with a vengeance on We are The Blaxstonz. It's an album that borders on black comedy with heavier social undercurrents. It's a good time record that helps you dance through the tough ones. It's HARD ASS SOUL

Artist Information

Biography

Saturday May 14, The Staxx Brothers will release their 3rd album, Jungle Cat on the independent label Soul United. Their previous releases were all acclaimed by critics on a national level. The Seattle P.I. called their debut The 12th Street Blues “…something
distinct and genuine, a road map of a diverse musical Odyssey.” Jambase.com declared their
sophomore effort We Are The Blaxstonz one of the best 25 records of 2009. Jungle Cat far exceeds all expectation and offers to put Seattle back on the R&B map, with a style that is at once familiar and daringly fresh. Built on the backs of giants, The Staxx Brothers did more than coin themselves HARD ASS SOUL. They went ahead and cashed the check with skill, substance, swagger --- and a catalog that proves them more than bank robbers.

Not satisfied with being the best Seattle band in circulation at San Francisco’s legendary Boom
Boom Room, Jungle Cat wants the world.

With Indie rock hero Scott Colburn on board as producer for the second straight LP, the listener
gets a sense that The Staxx Brothers have found their stroke. With a swagger & sound that
convinces San Francisco audiences this is a band that can only be from Oakland – Seattle finally has a voice to push its bastard child style of Hip Hop, Motown, and Memphis Country Funk far beyond the breeding grounds of King, Snohomish, and Whatcom County.

In the liner notes for the album, the co-editor of Jambase and founder of Dirtyimpound.com
Dennis Cook could not have summed this album up any better:

“These are national anthems for a new nation under a finer, kinder, pussy-positive groove. Play
it loud and get out there and DO SOMETHING.”
