Artist Information

Biography

Bo Lozoff has been intermittently writing and performing his songs for forty years in the background of his career as director of Human Kindness Foundation. Three of the songs on Bo’s 2004 CD, "Whatever It Takes," won awards in the Billboard World Song Contest of 2004, and two others won awards from the NC Songwriter’s Coop Competition for 2004. His 2006 release, "Eyes So Soft," is a powerful live performance of songs written during his life on the road, lecturing and performing across the country. The reviews and awards are already coming in for cuts from this new album, including one of his tunes being selected for a compilation CD and another being named a finalist in the international "We Are Listening" songwriting contest. In 2012, Bo went into the studio with a powerful collection of original country songs backed up by great musicians, for "Bo Goes Country."

Bo's unique work with prisoners around the world has drawn fans as diverse as the Dalai Lama, Mister Rogers, and Outlaw Biker Magazine. Bo's first book, "We're All Doing Time," has been hailed by Village Voice as "one of the ten books everyone in the world should read." Utne Reader named Bo "one of America's 100 spiritual visionaries." Shortly after moving to a remote area of the Big Island of Hawai'i in 2008 and building a home on the most active lava field in the world, Bo's magnetic performances drew the attention of local media and he was dubbed "IT IS DESTINY THAT THIS ARTIST WILL BECOME A FAVORITE AMONG LOCALS" by the Big Island Weekly, and indeed he has. The Hilo Herald-Tribune calls him a "singing sensation." His concerts regularly fill the East Hawai'i Cultural Center in Hilo and other venues around the islands.

Instrumentation

Bo plays both solo performances -- voice, guitar and harmonicas -- and is sometimes joined by friends on guitar, violin, fiddle, keyboards, or vocals.
