Biography
Born and raised in Oakland Ca, D. Burton began singing at the age 3, and like many other performers before him, started perfecting his craft singing in church. By the time D. was six he became a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Choir and before he became one of their premiere vocalist.
As long as D. Could remember, he has always wanted to follow in the footsteps of the great performers. So to help hone his ability he studied such great artist as Ron Isley, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Nat King Cole,Sam cook, El Debarge, and R. Kelly.
So, at the age of thirteen, D. began studying singing with one of Oakland's legendary vocal teachers, Jeanette Crosby.
After years of training , Jeanette was so impressed with D's vocal ability that she felt he was ready to take the next step in his musical career. So, with one phone call, she introduced D. Burton to one of Oakland's Hottest local production companies, Mystery House Productions (No Longer Together).
While under Mystery House Productions, D. Burton performed all over the bay Area non stop, including performing duets with Oakland's own American Idol finalist Latoya London.
Together with Mystery House, D. recorded and released his first single "Alone." Although the single was completely independently funded, it was immediately a success with his local following. The single sold 5,000 copies without the aid of radio airplay or large-scale distribution.
D. Burton has now teamed up with A.R Fuller Music, Big Time Music and other major producers in the industry and is more focused than ever. Working with several groups in and around the Bay Area writing for and lending his vocal ability, continually traveling between L.A and New York City working with legendary Hit Makers such as "Easy Mo Bee", grabbing a spot-lite segment on KLAS 89.7 FM Radio of Emerging New Artist, Nominated by the Urban Music Awards 2007 as "Best Unsigned Artist", A Featured artist in the 28th issue of Urban Mainstream Magazine, working on the completion of his solo project, and featured on 2 highly anticipated upcoming R & B mix C.D's later this year.
D. Burton has been regarded by such legendary producers as "Neil James" as a sure shot in the music industry, D. is sure to give you what you have been waiting for, so if you've been listening to the radio for the next singing sensation stay tuned, because D.Burton is next on the dial.
