Biography
Band Leader, Steve Price is no stranger to the music business. Starting out as a songwriter in the 80's, local musicians sought his advice and to this day consider him the main influence and reason for them pursuing music.
Price has over 100 originals and can play and sing hundreds of covers of various genres. He has performed at numerous clubs in Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky, as well as performances in LA at "Gazzari's" and "Dancing Waters."
From 1980 to 1992 he formed "Evans Landing," known for their video, "0-60" produced by Crystal Moss, which aired locally on cable and was nominated for "Best Storyline Concept," in Blockbuster's Video Contest held at Coyote's nightclub in Louisville Kentucky. They also won 2nd place in 1988 and 1st place in 1987 in the Carl Casper Auto Show Band Battle. They also were runner ups to Spanky Lee in a local songwriters contest in 1986. The band also won the categories of "Best Hard/Rock" in 1992 and Price won "Best Folk" in 1994 in a local songwriters contest.
Price went on to combine his talents with Jim Masterson to form the duo "Price and Masterson" in 1992. Masterson, received notariety with his band "The Jim Masterson's Blue's Band." As an accomplished guitarist he jammed with some of the greats. While in Chicago he performed at the Chicago Blues Club and shared the stage with Junior Wells, James Cotton, and Muddy Waters. He was a major influence on the local blues scene. He continued his work with Price to form "The River Rats," in 1995. In 2009 they changed their name to "The Steve Price Band."
Bill Chissum plays drums for the group. His drumming experience started at an early age and brought him to the attention of the Navy. He played in the Navy Drum and Bugle Corps and went on to play in "Blue Steele," "IMEZRU," and "Exit Zero," Exit Zero placed in the top six all star bands in "Mom's Music Fest" out of 300 contestants nationwide. They had the honor of playing at "Bia's Music Fest" in Woodstock, Illinois. His experience as a light and soundman and stage manager for "The Monarchs," for 14 years gives the band a sound advantage over more inexperienced groups.
Steve Lopp's smiling face adds an element of fun to the group. Lopp was influenced at an early age in church and as a bass player for the family oriented country band "The Midnight Ramblers." From 1986 to 1990 he played rock and country in "Four Wheel Drive." He formed the variety band "Hoosier Daddy," in 1990. They placed in the top 5 out of 60 bands in WAMZ radio's "Battle of the Bands," in 1991. Lopp is now a "River Rat," and enjoys playing
a variety of musical styles for varied audiences.
Vocalist Christiana Lawrence makes guest appearances on occasion. Her powerful vocals have made her a favorite at local fairs, festivals and jamborees. More to come about Christi at a later date!
The bands agent, Crystal Moss, is not a stranger to the music scene either. As a photographer and promotions manager, she has provided services to acts too numerous to count. She gained experience networking with Nashville producers, publishers, and national acts , such as Phil Vassar, Gary Allen, and producer Rusty McFarland, while managing vocalist Gina Emerson. She has organized songwriters contests and multi band stages. She wrote, produced and filmed the videos, "0 to 60" and "After Today," which were both nominated for "Best Storyline Concept," in The Blockbuster Video Awards, which aired on television. Her work also appears in Mike Keithley's video, "Are You Ever Coming Home." She co-owned the music magazine, "The Regional Entertainment Directory," with musician George Brackens, which gained her access to numerous national acts and music professionals. She admires talented people and is driven by her disire to see them pursue their "Burning Yes."
Price and Moss have combined talents and now own and operate Dewey Heights Publishing, a musician and songwriter collaboration located in southern Indiana. Check out their site at http://www.deweyheightspublishing.com .
