From the snowy peaks of the Rockies to the sunny beaches of San Diego to the crystal shores of South Lake Tahoe, Strive Roots has evolved into a hip-shaking, mind-expanding, inspirational musical project that is flourishing by packing concert halls to mountain saloons throughout the Western United States. After every Strive Roots show, amazed fans find themselves attempting to pin down their experience with words, but have only been able to come up with one core phrase to explain Strive Roots, “Roots Infused Power Groove”. What is Roots Infused Power Groove? It’s the funky beat swirling in your hips, it’s the message of awareness and change demanding to be heard, it’s original soul with modern beats, it’s your new favorite genre of music.

Powered by a mission to save the planet, Strive Roots’ conscious music melds the genres of reggae, hard rock, funk, and hip hop. Live shows are the platform for the band’s immense talent, creativity, and bold flavor. Strive Roots has headlined venues including the Derby, the Viper Room, Valle Nevado ski resort in Chili, South America and the South Park Music Tour in Colorado. Strive Roots has shared the stage with some of the musical world’s best including The Dooby Brothers, Buck’O'nine, De La Soul, Particle, Michael Franti and Spearhead, North Mississippi All Stars, Delta Nove, Thicker than Thieves, and The John Popper Project.

Strive Roots is literally on the tip of the world’s tongue after experiencing a plethora of publicity plugs around the globe. Thanks to their choice as snowboarder Hannah Teter’s Olympic gold medal soundtrack, Strive Roots has been mentioned on Good Morning America, The Dave Letterman Show, Jay Leno and The Jimmy Kimmel Show. Their track “Communicate” was launched into prime time after it gave Teter the motivation she needed to grab gold in the half-pipe competition of the 2006 Torino Olympic Winter Games.

Strive Roots’ newest album, The Harmonic Convergence, is in the works! Strive Roots takes pride in having self-produced their music through their own record label, Fourth Dimension Studios. For the Harmonic Convergence, Strive Roots has teamed up with multi-platinum producer Alan Sanderson (System of a Down, Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, B.B. King and many others).   Eli Lieberman couldn't be in Torino for his girlfriend Hannah Teter's gold-winning halfpipe run in the 2006 Olympics, but she could hear his support. Teter was listening to a song from Lieberman's band Strive Roots when she won, and soon the whole world was tuning in.
  
  Unfortunately, the new CD, "Bioresonance Therapy" with the now-famous song "Communicate" wasn't ready for sale. Lieberman said it was a frustrating experience to know that the band's website acquired about 100,000 hits before noon the day she won, but the merchandise wasn't available.
  
  Strive Roots, now based in San Diego, got its start and recorded its first album in Alma.
  
  Lieberman, also a competitive snowboarder and a former Team Summit coach, moved to Southern California with two members of the original 10-piece band about three years ago. Six months into the move the two who came with him quit the band and Lieberman met two San Diego natives to refill the band's roster.
  
  Chris Polock, aka Father Time, had been a drummer for a metal band and a reggae band before joining Strive Roots. It's a good match for Lieberman's band, which he describes as the "tasty parts of reggae and metal mixed with ska roots." Michael McBride on bass completes the trio.
  
  Lieberman said he encountered a different phenomenon when he got started trying to get gigs in California.
  
  "It took us about a year to truly understand that bands pay to do a big night. But we never took that on," he said. "We've never been a band that pays to play."
  
  He said through selective performances and media exposure they were able to do it their way. They now are getting headline shows, including a regular gig at Johnny Depp's Viper Room.
  
  Lieberman's move and financial ability to sustain the band have come from another aspect of his creativity.
  
  The 28-year-old lead singer said between the ages of 24 and 27 he was a borderline workaholic, but with all the things he loved to do.
  
  "When I started the band I was blowing glass 10 hours a day, seven days a week. I would wake up at 6 in the morning (to coach snowboarding) and then play 'til 3 in the morning," he said.
  
  He said his glassblowing art business, Fourth Dimension Glass, has infused about $40,000 into the music.
  
  "Glass is my savior," he said. Fourth Dimension Studios is the umbrella name for his Fourth Dimension Studio (for recording) and Fourth Dimension Glass.
  
  Lieberman said he now only blows glass about 20-60 hours a month and the income is a buffer for unexpected costs.
  
  Strive Roots will perform at the at the Festival of the Clouds for a sunset performance today and at State Bridge River Resort in Bond Sunday.
