Biography

Neisy Wilson is a Cuban singer, pianist and composer.
She was start to study music at age of 7, and during her teens was a member of diverse choral
groups, to the time that make performances like a
pianist in a Latin American music international
festivals that were take place in her born city: Santiago de Cuba. In 1998 she moves to Havana, Cuba, to study musical composition in the High Institute of Arts.
She has obtained prizes like singer and composer in
several editions of the “Jojazz” Contest, and has annually been invited to the event “Women in Jazz”, that is celebrate every year in the prestigious
Havana Jazz Club: “La Zorra y el Cuervo”.
During the years 2001 and 2002 she was take part of “Lemanacuba” project, with some musicians of “Irakere” group and students of the High Institute of Arts and the National School of Arts, doing tours by several cities of France. In this period she was alternates that work with her participation in the group: “Mezcla”, directed by the North American musician Pablo Menendez, like singer and pianist, doing international and national tours (Jazz Festival in Saint Martin, International Jazz Festival (Havana, Cuba), Jazz Festival “Coco Fest” (Cayo Coco, Cuba)
and International Jazz Festival in Barranquilla, Colombia. She also was performing with this group continuously in a several Jazz Clubs in Havana, Cuba.
Also, to the end of 2002 she participated like
singer and pianist in the tribute that the High Institute of Arts offered to Sir George Martin, remarkable British musician, and producer of mythical quartet The Beatles, during his visit to Cuba.
At the end of 2003 and until 2006 she collaborated with the percussionist Alejandro Mayor, creating the musical group: “Gala Mayor”, doing performances in a several jazz clubs in Cuba. At the same time, in 2004 she was selected, to perform the musical works finalists of SGAE Latin Jazz Contest 2004, in Havana, Cuba. She was participate in other concerts celebrated in the International Jazz Festival, sharing scene with the great pianist Chucho Valdés.
In June of 2005 she was graduates in the specialty of Musical Composition in the High Institute of Arts with a maximum qualification.
In the month of February she has been chosen one of the best 5 top singers, in a contest of SingersUniverse Magazine, and her music is now currently broadcasting for an important radio's online like: RadioIndy, The Songwriter's Network, Indie Life Radio and Uptown Jazz Network.

  La idea del concierto estuvo alrededor de “descargar” con el piano, tal como se suele hacer con ...
  
  La idea del concierto estuvo alrededor de “descargar” con el piano, tal como se suele hacer con guitarras, aunque por las características propias del instrumento, impiden utilizarlo en los habituales escenarios informales de la ciudad en que suele guitarrearse. Por ello, decidió agenciarse la intimidad de sala Alejandro García Caturla del teatro Amadeo Roldán, en complicidad con tres conocidos creadores y amigos suyos (Neisy Wilson, Beatriz Márquez y Santiago Feliú), que en mayor o menor medida, también cultivan la canción.
  
  
  La noche, aún joven, reservaba muchas emociones, que se iniciaron al presentarse la primera invitada de la noche, la laureada y joven jazzista Neisy Wilson, quien con una impecable ejecución y un marcado discurso jazzístico en el piano cantó “Se fue”, del trovador Raúl Torres, seguido por su canción “Instantes” y concluyendo con su versión al estilo del jazz latino, de un conocido estándar del género, titulado "Summertime", salido de la pluma de George e Ira Gershwin.
  
  Neisy, ovacionada, cedió nuevamente el instrumento al anfitrión, quien interpretó la conocida pieza “Tirando tiros”, otra vez con excelente participación del público. Al concluir, Gerardo llamó a escena a Beatriz Márquez (bautizada dentro de la cultura nacional como “la musicalísima”), y que es una conocida intérprete de canciones de corte románticos, así como de diversos géneros de la música cubana, y cuya obra fue bien difundida en el país durante los años 80.
  
  
  
  
  
  
  Tantas canciones de géneros diferentes y en voces distintas, todas desde el piano, hicieron que el público no se conformara con el exigente programa desarrollado por los artistas, y exigieron que continuara la “descarga”. Santiago al piano comenzó la última ronda de canciones, para interpretar a dúo con Gerardo, la bella canción “En mi calle”, de Silvio Rodríguez. Seguidamente, Neisy trajo en su voz y sus manos, la música de Martha Valdés, al cantar “Palabras”, y luego Beatriz, recordó un viejo éxito titulado “No me grites”. Robertico Carcassés asumió el piano en el último tema fuera de programa: la interpretación a cuatro voces del gustado tema “Yolanda”, de Pabló Milanés, coreada plenamente por todo el público.
  
  Luego de dos horas de música, los asistentes salían a caminar en la estrellada y calurosa noche capitalina, mientras las emociones emanaban de sus pechos suspendidas en acordes, flotando en la mágica sensación de haber protagonizado e inmortalizado para siempre, junto a Gerardo y sus invitados, esta descarga "A Piano Limpio".

  Una descarga de jazz monumental –por la cantidad de músicos y el enorme talento interpretativo que s...Una descarga de jazz monumental –por la cantidad de músicos y el enorme talento interpretativo que se concentrará en la Sala Che Guevara- cerrará el próximo miércoles 27, a partir de las 8:30 de la noche, la jornada Leyendo en Casa que desde las dos de la tarde se celebrará en la Casa de las Américas con venta de libros, sesiones de lectores de tabaquería y el emplazamiento del mural Cuba es la capital, del chileno Roberto Matta, en el vestíbulo de la institución, entre otras acciones.
  
  Consagrados desde hace años en la prolífica escena del jazz cubano se unirán en el concierto a jóvenes cuyos nombres ya suenan –aunque más recientemente, también con fuerte acento y mayores perspectivas – en el universo de un género al que la Isla ha aportado tanto en sonoridad, influencias e intérpretes.
  
  Ernán López-Nussa abrirá la noche, primero en formato de trío con Jorge Reyes (bajo acústico) y Ramsés Rodríguez (batería), y luego en el quinteto junto a Reyes, Ramsés, Pancho Terry (chekeré) y Alexander Brown en la trompeta.
  
  A la pianista, cantante y compositora Neisy Wilson seguirán el proyecto JOJAZZ, con Tamara Castañeda (vibráfono), Alejandro Vargas (piano), Carlos Sarduy (trompeta), Maiquel González (trompeta), Ernesto Camilo Vega (clarinete) y la propia Neisy en la voz, así como TROMPETAS EN EL JAZZ, que incluye a Vargas y los trompetistas Julio Padrón, Alexander Brown, Yasek Manzano, Maiquel González y Carlos Sarduy.

  Ce concert exceptionnel inaugurant notre saison constitue un événement à plus d'un titre : il existe très peu de formation de jazz réunissant 30 musiciens. Ce grand orchestre rassemble des artistes de haut niveau. Cultures afro-cubaines et européennes se fondent et fusionnent pour donner à entendre, une musique de pure énergie, en dehors de tout phénomène de mode.
  
  Emmené par le compositeur Luc Le Masne, Le Manacuba puise aux racines européennes et caraïbes de ses musiciens et marie allègrement jazz/musique écrite, musique savante/musique populaire.
