Biography
n.a. + a.n. was formed by Natalie Agee and Aimee Norwich after they met in San Francisco in the summer of 2006. They were both working on a multi-media show with other artists for The National Queer Arts Festival. On day three of the run of the show, Natalie decided to call Aimee at 2 AM "just to say hi". They've been inseparable ever since. Shortly thereafter, they decided to form this band, n.a. + a.n. Coincidentally, that just happens to be their real initials.
n.a. + a.n. is a feminist, electro-quirk/mock rock band that is devoted to building communities that advocate the values of diversity, tolerance and human kindness through live performance. One of the many fun things about n.a. + a.n., is that they promote love and inclusiveness by inviting a drummer from the local community to play their set with them!! So, it's a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants, fun filled surprise every evening!!
Natalie Agee is an acrobat and performer of most everything, from modern dance to hula hoop acts, singing in stairwells to chinese pole circus tricks on lampposts. She has worked, nationally, with many independent choreographers. A founding member of Obie and Bessie Award-winning "LAVA", she taught and performed with the company from 1997 to 2006. She has received training from master teachers/ performers at The Circus Center (SF), Circus Oz (AUS), and Nimble Arts (VT). In New York, her work has been presented at The Kitchen, and The Brooklyn Lyceum, among other venues. She lives and teaches trapeze in Brooklyn.
A Jacksonville, Florida native, bassist/programmer/backing vocalist Aimee Norwich holds a degree in music and electronics. A classically-trained prodigy and veteran of the music scene, she has composed and performed pieces in every genre, from jazz and classical music, to experimental and punk rock. Weaving creativity and technical ability, she often builds spontaneous live loops during her performances. She spent many years working as a library clerk, while experimenting with several different musical creations, designing and constructing the instruments and electronic devices that would compel Howard Jones to write: “I came across a fascinating musician today, [Aimee] plays bass, but makes it sound like a million different instruments…”
