Lizzi's vocals are so incredible you will struggle with every emotion you have all at once. Lizzi comes from music in her blood, she grew up listening to her dad play and sing everyday. She isn't just a singer, its like listening to a finely tuned instrument. You can hear so many influences in their music, but it still remains original just to them, they have a sound all their own. Dave has been playing guitar since he was 13 and you can hear a mix of blues, country and rock in his playing. Jason IS the best bass man around, mixing his love for blues, funk, and rock, he is untouchable. Jeremy keeps it all together with his awesome beats.

Lizzi Neal Band set for ‘rollercoaster’ ride

She wails, pleads even jumps around the stage.
“I think people are going to see something that they’re not used to seeing when they go see a blues band,” said Neal, who appears with the Lizzi Neal Band at 7 p.m. Friday at Goodfella’s in Pekin. “Usually, you see a blues band and they’re very reserved. I am not. I am not a very reserved person. Because when I sing, something takes over me. I get crazy on stage. I jump around. It’s a rollercoaster when you come and see us.”
A 1992 graduate of Illinois Valley Central High School in Chillicothe, Neal was born in Mendota and grew up listening to Motown and blues and soul, thanks to her dad, a drummer and singer.
“I started out playing the drums when I was little, then I realized I could sing,” said Neal, whose visit is sponsored by the River City Blues Society. “I joined band when I was in the fifth grade. I was in plays and musicals and did all sorts of things with band and choir. The older I got, the more I realized that there was more for me in singing than in anything else. Blues and soul is what I’m made up of.”
Lizzi Neal married her husband, Dave, who plays guitar, in 1996, and the two became the core of the Lizzi Neal Band, which also includes bass player Jason Freeman and drummer Jeremy Williams. Based in the Rockford area, the group at first played a mix of pop and rock as well as blues. As it gained a following, though, the blues segment began to grow.
The group performs covers as well as original material. A new compact disc still in the works, in fact, contains almost all original songs including “Wrong or Right” (“It’s basically about life’s choices and what you do with those choices,” Neal said) and “Midnight” (“It’s a very creepy song about a spirit or your conscience following you around”).
“When I sing … it’s like I am in touch with something higher than me,” Neal said. “It’s like I’m revealing my soul. When I’m singing, it’s not like I’m just singing. I feel it in every part of my body. I really enjoy what I get back from people. It’s the greatest feeling in the world. There is nothing better than singing in front of people and seeing that they are enjoying what you’re doing.”
