Artist Information

Biography

Sounds from Atlantis is a Modern Electric Americana quartet from South Jersey whose origins stem from the songwriting efforts of lead singer Tony Cooksey, who recorded his first solo EP, Lower Vibration Sessions in 2006. Cooksey's one-man live performances would soon come to include bassist Gregory Hagen and drummer Matthew Walker. Described in Origivation Magazine as "...Having a sound that harkens to The Bends-era Radiohead, the Mars Volta, the Decemberists, and Elbow." SfA has carved a niche in the Philadelphia and South Jersey original music scene with a unique blend of brilliant lead and harmony vocals, diverse instrumental prowess, and ghostly lyricism. The band is also known for winning over fans and fellow musicians alike with their friendly, energetic stage presence and all-too-evident enjoyment in performing live. They have played such venues as Philadelphia's Trocadero Theatre, the Hard Rock Cafe, Khyber, and the North Star Bar. SfA took to the studio in the summer of 08' to record what became their first group effort, 2009's No Mercy has the Sea. Guitarist Chris Bayley joined the band during mixing of No Mercy has the Sea and, in trading lead and rhythm duties with Cooksey, has further developed the sound of Sounds from Atlantis.

To date SfA continues to write new material while promoting their latest EP. Check out SfA's radio interviews, live performance videos, write ups, upcoming show dates, and listen to tracks off the EP No Mercy has the Sea at www.SoundsfromAtlantis.com.
