Biography
Shane Burke is a singer songwriter from Baltimore Maryland. He has been performing his own material since the age of 9. Consequently, he has built up quite a catalog of original music. His latest offering being an 11 song CD titled "Headlight Skyline"; his first official release since parting ways with international touring band "Brickfoot". In his own words, "Until relatively recently I've been using mostly keyboards as my main instrument...I just wanted to try something different, and I thought guitar would be an interesting departure. ....I think because I know piano so well I tend to make things more complicated than need be. Of course I haven't been playing guitar nearly as long so I'm forced to keep it simple. ..I think that has really made alot of different on this project. As far as Shanes overall sound, it can only be described as some sort of common ground between the sweet sacredness of Jeff Buckley and the gritty soul of Otis redding; Executed in a manner reminiscent of
early Dylan in it's sparseness ....All rolled together with lyrics very much reflective of the sort of pathos one might expect from someone as well travelled and at times troubled as he. In the time recording "Headlight Skyline" (to be released on Feb 1 at Club 66, Shane has been working feverishly to complete work on his next CD ( as yet untitlied) . He has also begun performing live with a backup band (Mike Waddell: upright bass ) and Jay Dewitt ( drums) . Their recent show together at "The Recher Theatre" in Towson Md was a great success and showed much promise for the full band sound, rumour has it he may be using on his follow up to "Headlight Skyline". Only time will tell, but the future looks bright for this Md native.(special thanks to Art Vandelay for the cool write up!) Check out Shane Burke and his band on UTube at the Recher Theatre.
