Biography
I have played with and performed with and or shared the stage with so many people over the past 20+ years, some famous and some not so famous household names, but equally amazing musicians still the same. I am lucky to perform regularly with my wife Kristina Sablan-Anderson, previous bands include: Snakin, The Last Sundown, Home Wreckers, Lace Cherry, M.S. and Decible Vertigo amongst others. My music has emerged through a long process and I have become mostly known recently for acoustic fingerstyling bluring all of the genre lines into an ocean of music that I hope everyone can enjoy and appreciate. From Days of the New to Louis Armstrong and everything inbetween...I have not forgotten my roots, and all of my band mates and idols along the way. From Jeff Beck, Jaco Pastorius, Eric Clapton, Laurence Juber, to Joe Satriani and Rick Emmett (Triumph, have you heard Suitcase Blues?), Stu Hamm...a wide variety of musician's helped me find my own uniqe sound. Also the inpiration from both of my parents and my beautiful wife encouraging me to "follow my dreams". That is always the best advice. I would like to see the next generation(s) of musicians have the same support!
Whether playing at the old Keystone in Palo Alto in the 80's, the old Cactus Club or Cabaret in San Jose, the Little Fox Theatre in Redwood City, Toons or the 5th Quarter, the Genghis Cohen in Hollywood, a simple house party or sitting out by the pool with friends, the live performance is always the most rewarding for a musician. I pray that we are encouraging our children to follow their own artistic passion, whatever it may be. Allow them individual self expression and a way to pass the time in a productive manner. The ART and MUSIC programs are all but extinct in schools. Please encourage your own child to be themselves. Wherever that takes them, support and love them.
The songs on this site are a combination of original material and mixed covers. Also included are a song from Kristina Sablan's 'CD A PRAYER' which I was blessed to have played on. A track titled A Womans Worth in which I am featured playing both bass and lead guitar. Also available to listen to is a live recording from my previous band 'The Last Sundown'. We performed a song titled' Last Train Out' with limited hand drums for percussion, and I must note that this song is missing a major part as it was recorded in the absence of an amazing guitarist Travis Hogue, the other original founding member of the band. I am featured on guitar on this track.
Enjoy listening and I would love to hear your feedback.
Cheers-
Darren
