We are a group that loosely fits into the "indie-rock" genre.. Our songs go from life affirming to edgy, with solid but innovative drumbeats behind incisive and disciplined bass-lines.

Biography

Torq are a five piece band based in East Clare, Ireland,
who began working together as a unit a year ago.
The current live set is mainly rock influenced, with a tight sound, occasionally atmospheric, sometimes playful, yet with an intuitive grasp of songwriting which entertains.

The Story:
Torq began to form in the autumn of 2011 when Eoin, Scott and Peneleapai emerged from the cosmic dust of a previous band formation. They finished the video they were working on for "Keep On Jumping"-one of Eoin's songs which they had recorded and then went searching for a drummer.
They found Denise, a great singer and guitar player, but still no drummer.
They put up ads, asked friends and friends of friends to pass the word around. Then Denise bumped into Michael who lived next door to Scott, who thought Michael played percussion, but Michael was back on the kit and looking to play in a band, so he "auditioned" and got the part [easily]!

So a year later they are on the gig circuit with a full set and have released an EP of 4 songs called "Found".[They have four videos on youtube]

The Band:

Michael has specialised in West African and latin percussion over the last number of years, previous to that he played the kit in original bands in the main venues in Dublin and around the country.

Denise discovered a passion for singing at a young age. Over the last ten years she has been writing her own material and released an album in 2008.

Penealapai began performing in music and dance when she was in New York where she's from. She has recently won an award for singing in the Irish "Sean Nos" style.

Scott initially played classical guitar, over the last few years he has played gigs with covers and original bands in Clare. He is also a talented studio mixer.

Eoin aside from writing and producing his own music, has performed in original and cover bands all around the country, on vocals, bass, guitar and mandolin.

Together the five members of Torq merge their eclectic musical interests into a rich and colourful sound.
