Biography

Ockham’s Razor formed in 2006 to rave reviews for their high energy performances and modern approach to Celtic music. Naming themselves after the theological and philosophical proof, their approach to the arrangements of their take on Celtic music elevated the songs to a more modern sound, while preserving its traditional soul. As one of the only Celtic bands in the Pacific Northwest to perform songs "as Gaeilge", (in the Irish language) it quickly helped them carve out a niche and have become one of the more talked about and followed acts in the genre.

With a merciless schedule, Ockham's Razor has taken their act on a nation wide tour, as well as several West Coast outings. They received rave reviews, performing to capacity audiences, and were dubbed "the bad boys of Irish traditional music in America" by the Tampa Tribune. They have taken the stage with Grammy and Academy Award winning ambassadors of Celtic music, The Chieftains, and performed over 350 shows, including numerous festivals, such as the Pacific Northwest Folklife Festival, the largest of its kind in the country.

In 2010, they were invited to headline Microsoft's Tech Ready 11, were selected to be part of the City of Seattle's OnHold program, featuring Ockham's Razor's music on ten thousand city phone lines and were chosen as to represent Seattle's music scene in the inaugural episode of Next Stop, a travel program featured on Alaska Airlines and their subsidiaries.

With two studio albums and one live recording to their credit, Ockham's Razor has been lauded as "Ethno-punk" and "Turbo-Celtic," and have been awarded as Album of the Week by Scottish Celtic Radio, Top Celtic rock bands of 2010 by Pub Song Podcast's and Top Albums of 2010 by Celtic MP3's. All three of their albums, as well as their debut EP, were reviewed favorably by Celtic MP3 Magazine, Celtophilia, and Feardacelt, and recently was featured by WHOA! Magazine. Their music has been featured on radio stations through the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, and Australia.

In the meantime, Ockham's Razor has found time to develop The Great West Coast Craic Celtic Rock Experience, which in only its second year, progressed to two separate festivals in two different cities.

Celtic rock cover of Nine Inch Nails "Closer" mashed with the Beatles "Come Together" and a little Spice Girls in there just for fun.
