Biography

A band called PERFECT RED took on the United States of America, perhaps even the world. Armed with a credit card and a bag of chips, four young lads hopped into a van for a tour that promised success beyond their wildest dreams.

You say you didn’t see them on that tour? Hmmmm, – what were you thinking? You probably live in Las Cruces, NM – don’t you? You probably think that their 2008 cd “Thank you, Mr. Meltdown” is about you – don’t you? Well... it IS!

The low point of a tour can make the most optimistic person question the fullness of their cup. Las Cruces was supposed to be the best show of the tour. The promoter of the show was an Assistant Program Director at the local rock station, owned the club and was running specials to get the back-to-school kids to the party on the patio. It was out of the way, but worth the trip. So… 16 hours on the road after rockin’ the Whiskey in LA, PERFECT RED shows up in time to load in for an all ages show and a radio interview on the aforementioned rock station. The program director even showed up to do the interview live at the club (very drunk – and practically passes out during the interview).

Long story longer. Dude who owns club manages local band. Dude takes it upon himself to turn down PERFECT RED amps (on stage during the show). DUDE – PR is a ROCK band! Reduced to the sonic boom of a pin falling to the ground, timmm throws his microphone into the T-shirt box, sits down at the bar and orders a drink. Meanwhile, the band finishes a lighter and jazzier version of “Take Me Home” off the band’s second cd, “...rebuild the after world.” Next up: dude who owns club increases volume to eleven for band he manages. Ironically, they are an acoustic jazz trio.

Fast forward: back home from the tour, the boys decide it is time to write and record a new cd. This time – they do it all on their own. In keeping with themes of triumph over thoughts of self destruction over silly school girl crushes, the band's latest album, "Thank you, Mr. Meltdown", explores this senseless inner conflict that consumes most people with a pulse through sonic textures and genre juxtaposition.
