Hettinga describes the style of S.A. as progressive psychedelic funk pop.  “We have a lot of different influences between us and what we try to do is bring them together into tightly knit, well crafted songs that somehow go from folk/indie to progressive funk fusion, meeting in the middle somewhere to create a new path.”

Hettinga adds, “When creating a setlist for the evening, we always include some musical jokes and rarities to break things up and keep the performance fresh.  Our relationship with our audience is based around the idea of creating a moment in time where one can laugh, dance, sing, and connect with us and the music.  A Strange show will push the limits of jazz and rock while creating a progressive hybrid of rock and funk soundscapes.”
