Biography

If it weren't for the rich, dynamic and textured sound; the passion dripping from every lyric and harmony delivered; the frenetic energy of every live performance; and a willingness to push the boundaries - there's a small chance The Cool Calm Collective might just be a reggae band.

Countless numbers of sold out shows, securing Triple J national radio airplay, coveted festival spots and a host of high profile support slots since their inception in 2007 has just been the warm-up – the future is looking bright… No… The future is looking blindingly brilliant for these hard playing Gold Coast lads.

After three years together, The Cool Calm Collective have developed a solid and unique musical foundation rooted in reggae, but far from limited to any one genre, they seamlessly blend elements of soul, rock afro-beat and whatever else works to get each song bouncing. They've also established a fiercely loyal – not to mention rapidly expanding - fan-base across Australia's East coast.

Recent highlights include two successful interstate tours, Q-Song and Music-Oz finalist song nominations, appearances at Big Day Out, Good Vibrations, Island Vibe and a bunch of other major festivals, and a debut EP with 3 songs that still get played regularly on Triple J national radio.

In 2010 The Cool Calm Collective – affectionately known by fans as “Cool Calm” – underwent somewhat of a transformation, and has emerged with a new look line-up, an edgier and more intense sound and live show to boot, a debut album in production with rock producer Govinda Doyle (best known as one half of the Lady Of The Sunshine project with Angus Stone), and a renewed energy, eagerness and hunger to play.

The Cool Calm Collective's live show is renowned for a fervent, frenetic energy, a rich, textured and dynamic sound, and generally - a very hot, sweaty, frenzied and really, really, ridiculously good looking crowd.

Isn't that exactly what you want at your festival?
