Biography
Celeste was born and raised near New Orleans and was heavily influenced by the food and music. Especially the rhythms that weave in and out of everything that meanders. Her parents, having her in the autumn of their lives and from Alabama, instilled a strong love of 50's and 60's R&B classics. Especially soul music like Otis Redding. Muscle Shoals drove home Aretha Franklin and Montgomery gave up Hank Williams. Ah, yes the sweet country music. Lot's of Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, the Judds, Dolly Parton, etc.! As she grew older she fell in love with Fleetwood Mac, the Beatles, Radiohead and U2.
Since food and adventure were also a love of hers, she went to culinary school in Boston at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts. In Boston, not only did she learn how to cook and did so in top restaurants like Sel de la Terre, but she also learned a lot about life, love, the differences in people, and asked questions all the time about why we do the things we do. It was a wake up call that life isn't always so easy and that it's damn cold up north! "You also get to think a lot when you keep bakers hours and you're up all night alone with the dough and your thoughts. " Yeah, yeah, sappy songwriter stuff for your melancholy days.
So Celeste moved back to the south, to Texas specifically, after owning her own personal chef business for 2 years. "Everyone thought I was going to be the next Rachel Ray, but really I just want to be the next Brandi Carlile," says Celeste. Yeah, music was still calling her home. "I couldn't turn away from it, so here I am following my heart, and head, and not regretting it." Celeste writes about loneliness, finding love, life stopping us from our dreams. "But, I like to make you dance too. There are always the funk songs!"
