Biography

The name Descent Into Madness appeared on the Houston scene in the early 2001. After several personnel changes the current lineup materialized in 2005 when Claudio and Alexander were auditioning for a male vocalist. At that time Jennifer Lazure (ex-Last Eve) answered the band's ad for a vocalist. Not really looking for a female vocalist, the guys were struck by Jennifer's talent and asked her to join. The first demo of the group "Children of War" was recorded in the Winter of 2005, following with their second EP in April 2006 titled "Fool's March". Currently Descent Into Madness is finished their new demo, "King of the Blind".

  DIM (Descent Into Madness) - In The Darkest Hours, demo
  Hailing from Houston, DIM is an up–and–coming band that plays some well executed gothic–tinged metal. Most of the Goth overtones come from vocalist Courtney Claiborne’s deep vocals. The remainder is Derek Brown’s atmospheric backing keys. In their most metal moments, the band is reminiscent of Savatage and later period Fates Warning, particularly in “The Poison Inside” and the title track. The band seems strongest in their speedier songs, but with a voice like Claiborne, they might consider some slower doomier tempos in the mix as opposed to mid-tempos. (Sabbath Steve)

  Descent Into Madness bear a deceiving moniker. While someone might expect a form of violent, hateful metal from such an act, the truth is that DIM are a very melodic act -- but they still manage to hold on to an aggressive sound, combining elements of Sentenced, Tristania, and Maiden's more progressive efforts. The songs are catchy and chorus-based, but avoid falling into boring patterns or strum-fests devoid of any real riffs. There's a definite bite to the songs, which courses through the duration of the demo. The vocals are predominantly clean, with occasional female backup chiming in. Guitars are well played and offer a good variety, and also provide top-notch interplay with the vocal lines. The rhythm section performs in a very basic fashion, but none of this negatively affects the music. A crisper, cleaner production would be beneficial to the band, but what they've accomplished here does the music justice. A few faults exist though, mainly being in that band seem to have trouble ending a song as easily as it starts. Most of the tracks seem to sag a little bit towards their respective conclusions. Other than a few minor improvements, this band is well on its way to possibly becoming a power player in their field.

  Любопытно иногда получать письма (и диски) от бывших соотечественников: на этот раз нас порадовал некто Александр Камбуров, приготовивший в подарок "М-у" новенькое демо своей американской команды НИСХОЖДЕНИЕ В БЕЗУМИЕ. Если верить написанному в био, одним из основополагающих направлений собственной деятельности группа видит в противостоянии мэйнстриму, и, надо сказать, кое в чём вполне преуспевает. Честно признаться, давненько не приходилось слышать настолько органичной помеси мелодичного хард-н-хэви с заводными готическими ритмами, к тому же неплохо прописанной и... как бы это выразить? - умной, что ли. Не примитивной. Таких групп много не бывает и... спасибо, что такие ещё где-то есть!

This time we were pleasantly surprised by Alexander Kamburov who sent us the new demo from his american band, Descent Into Madness. As we can see from the bio, one of the main aspects of the band's music is to stay away from the mainstream and beaten path, and we can definitely say that they do that rather well.
  
  To be honest, I haven't heard such an organic blend of melodic hard-n-heavy with gothic tribal rhytms in a long time. Well written...and how should I put it? - intelligently blended together. It definitely doesn't sound primitive. It is rare to find such a band...and thanks that such music still exists!

Plus we have an incredible mix of male and female vocals that makes each of the tracks here a unique experience (Courtney Claibourne has a very sweet and delicate voice that contrasts with Tom Spencer´s lower range vocals, and some choruses are really catchy and give another dimension to the songs). The musicians here have a lot of technical skills and they put all this skills on each of the tracks to create this six magnificent compositions. I have to remark the excellent guitar solos that Alexander K. plays on the songs here, he has a lot of technical skills and at the same time a lot of feeling. This is with no doubt one of the best albums of the month.
