Biography

XEROSUN are a four piece metal band originating from Dublin, Ireland. The band members are guitarists Fiachra Kelly & Gareth Jeffs, drummer Darrin Bell and bassist & vocalist Ivan O’Sullivan. Combining an eclectic mix of influences, XEROSUN produce a melodic, powerful, aggressive and above all, original sound.

XEROSUN began cutting their teeth by gigging relentlessly across Ireland and England. As the band progressed, the crafting of their sound and vision continued with music videos shot to coincide with two EP releases. These efforts culminated in the band making their live television début to an audience of 500,000 people on Irish national television.

Crossing the boundaries of heavy music with soaring and passionate vocals, XEROSUN has carved a place for themselves in modern metal.

Their début album “Absence of Light” was awarded the maximum 5 out of 5 by UK’s Black Velvet Magazine who described it as a “…dark sounding industrial monster… drawn together brilliantly and magnificently done”. The album can be purchased on-line at http://www.xerosun.com in a limited edition digipak with stunning artwork provided by Seth Siro Anton. Seth’s artwork can be found on the covers of other metal greats such as Paradise Lost, Soilwork and Kamelot.

XEROSUN recorded a version of Paradise Lost’s seminal, gothic metal classic ‘True Belief’. It pricked the ears of Paradise Lost’s guitarist, Gregor Mackintosh, who voiced his approval in an email to the band saying “Cracking cover lads, made me feel very nostalgic”.

November 2010 saw XEROSUN playing support to the mighty Avenged Sevenfold on the Irish leg of their world tour. The sold-out gig held in Dublin’s famous Olympia Theatre saw a very receptive
and engaged crowd singing along to Xerosun’s lyrics and chanting for more XEROSUN.

With a strong, grass-roots support in the US college radio circuit and a fast growing fan base in Europe, XEROSUN are set to conquer the world one crushing, melodic step at a time.

While everyone else is falling for the trap of trying to be the next "The Somethings" and top the charts, Xerosun are sticking to what they know how to do. And they know how to do it very well. Their songs are mature, well-structured, melodic and, as is so important in this genre, masterfully performed.
  
  You can hear the influences of established bands and styles but none of this impinges on the creation of and dedication to Xerosun's own identity. I hear a lot of metal and so often, especially at the unsigned level, the vocals can let down an otherwise strong package. Not here. The vocals do what they should do. They lead. The songs are driven by the strong combination of melody and lyrics, the key to creating “songs”, not just pieces of music. I’ve put these guys on heavy rotate on my mp3 player and they’re not coming off any time soon. In fact, my only criticism is that I’ve only got three songs. Send me more. I’m Xerosun-hungry. You will be too.
