Artist Information
Biography
Grammy Nominated Henta is a singer/songwriter and recording artist, originally from the United Kingdom and has been writing music for over 20 years now. She was originally very much influenced by artists such as Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel in the early 1990s.
BREAKING NEWS:
Henta's song 'Rain' is in the Music for the Earth Competition. This song is an emotive song about survival and the immediate need for positive global change. It is both symbolic in terms of presenting a potentially bleak time when we no longer have natural resources due to us neglecting our earth and also literal, depicting our fundamental need for water. It also strongly addresses how big corporations have been controlling our food supply and the need for people to fight back and regain control, at least over their local communities, which is where strength truly lies.

HISTORY
In June 2006 Henta made a life changing decision as a result of her newfound musical collaborations over the internet and the birth of sites such as Soundclick and My space.
This change originally stemmed from when she converted from using Cubase 3.1 with an Atari to running Cubase SX with a pc which opened up a whole new method of working. She has performed a variety of gigs in the UK, both solo and with bands, anything from rock to drum and bass. Slowly she became more involved in electronic/dance music/dream-pop and musical collaborations which resulted in her writing her last 2 albums consisting of trip-hop, downtempo and dance compositions, whilst still remaining true to her acoustic and spiritual roots.
Over a 10 year period from the mid 1990s, she worked with a number of different producers and musicians and also wrote library music. In 2007, having collaborated with 2 musicians/producers from Seattle (David Miles Huber www.51bpm.com and Ludington GT www.soundclick.com/ludingtongt) on-line by swapping audio files over the internet to create new songs, She took a holiday in Seattle in June 2007 to perform with Ludington GT at Critical Mass near Seattle. She then returned in August 2007 and performed at Center Stage, Burning Man. She then made the life changing decision to sell her home in the UK, leaving all her friends and family and moving to Seattle in November 2006, to pursue her musical career and finish her latest album "Daisy Dancing".
Since moving to Seattle she performed at a variety of venues, such as Neumos, Youngstown Cultural Arts Center and the Jewelbox Theater and some of these have been in Surround Sound where she has been fortunate enough to be able to play a grand piano and sing to an appreciative audience and always with wonderfully cool visuals.
In March 2008 Henta released her last album Daisy Dancing and organised a number of CD Release Parties in Seattle which have helped to raise her profile here She is also an active and one of the original founders of the Electronic Music Collective who organise a variety of musical events and she also became a member of the Recording Academy in 2008.
Now she performs mostly with her husband Marcell Marias (www.marcellmarias.com), a fellow musician and light sculptor, who she met since moving to Seattle, as well as making special appearances with other musicians and bands.
She still writes heartfelt songs, whose lyrical and music content range from secular, to spiritual and feature melody and rhythm as well as strong pop sensibility. She is most definitely fulfilling her musical dream and strives to heal people through her music.
