Biography
Raised in rural Western Washington in a home infused with music, Bahia writes simple, poignant tunes that reflect the sounds surrounded her in her youth. Among the many instruments played by her family was her father’s classical guitar. In company with friends and family this instrument explored not only etudes, but folk, blues, and rock and roll. Bahia grew accustomed to the warm rich tones of nylon strings rather than the twang of steel. The first tunes she wrote were written for piano and voice, her first instruments of study. As she wrote more music however she found she longed write for guitar and began studying folk and classical guitar. Soon emerged the finger picking, acoustic style she calls her own today. Just out of the Woods is her first full length CD. It represents over fifteen years of song writing and takes the listener on a ride through growing up, coming out, getting married, and a lot of great music. Instrumentation on the album includes cello, hand percussion, and some great guitar solo’s by Willium Reedy. CD is available on line at http://cdbaby.com/cd/bahiamusic and http://www.digstation.com/Bahia.
