KAHUNA BEACH PARTY!


Kahuna Beach Party is a musical celebration of the Beach Boys, a light-hearted tribute to the fun and optimistic feeling of the early 1960’s. A time of relaxing days spent at the beach, surf boards, fast cars, and the promise of perpetual youth and beauty. Although so much has changed since then, this fast paced interactive show lets us relive that feeling for a couple of hours.

After a year of rehearsals, Kahuna Beach Party’s public debut was a series of concerts with the Jefferson Symphony Orchestra in Colorado, summer of 2007. They performed with two other symphony orchestras, all to rave reviews. They continue touring and building a fan base spanning all age groups in the Rocky Mountains, the Southwest and Mid-west, traveling to numerous state and county fairs, private and corporate events to perform for audiences numbering from 300 to 30,000.

From his concept of drawing on seasoned musicians with a strong background in theater arts to create the Kahuna Beach Party characters, composer Bill Francoeur has led the collaborative effort with input from the performers to keep this show fresh, exciting and family friendly.

Kahuna Beach Party’s mission is to provide a fun entertainment experience for audiences and to build and maintain a positive, professional relationship with the client. When you engage these seasoned performers, be assured that the show will reflect positively on your organization and guests.

While attempting to survive, knowing that they would most likely never be found, Cap'n Bill brought out his stack of 8 track beach band tapes for entertainment. The music was good, and it was something to do; so they divided up the parts and started practicing. After a time, they knew they had something special and if they were ever to be 'found', this was what they had to do!

Before they could be 'discovered' they had to name the band. Something that would describe:

Where they were stranded - KAHUNA!
Where they lived - on the BEACH!
and
What they liked to do - PARTY!

  The 2007 North Dakota State Fair is now in the history books. One of the bright spots this year was Kahuna Beach Party. They were the perfect headliner for our Classic Car Show grandstand event on July 25th. The crowd was able to mingle and admire approximately 100 vintage cars on display while enjoying the music provided by Kahuna Beach Party.
  
  The band did a masterful job blending their tunes to the evening's theme and working the crowd with great professionalism. Some danced, some sat and listened, some sang along, some kept the beat and reminisced while viewing the classic cars, but ALL thoroughly enjoyed the evening and Kahuna Beach Party.
  
  They also went the extra mile for us by making an appearance at our VIP & Sponsor party before their concert. It was a much appreciated perfect touch for our special guests.

  It is a pleasure to provide this letter of reference for the Kahuna Beach Party.
  
  We saw the Kahuna Beach Party showcase last autumn at the Rocky Mountain Association of Fairs convention and thought immediately that they would b e perfect on a stage near the pond in the center of our grounds. We engaged them to perform at MontanaFair 2007 which ran from August 10th through the 18th.
  
  The show, full of great old surf music set audiences tapping toes, was an obvious match for MontanaFair and worked well located near Surfer Joe's food court. The Kahunas played three different 45 minute sets and brought back crowds to hear all three.
  
  The seating around the pond, at Surfer Joe's and on the grassy berms across from their stage we general filled nicely. Their music carried over the water to the midway and drew people to an area which had been underutilized in the past. People who saw them told friends to go to the fair and enjoy them.
  
  We enjoyed meeting them and working with them and would invite them back.

  Republicans swarmed to the El Paso County GOP’s beach party and caught the political wave in singing and surfboard-riding contests backed by Beach Boys’ tunes played by the Kahuna Beach Party Band.

  More than 200 Gidgets and Moondoggies attended the May 30 beach party at the El Paso County Fairgrounds in Calhan. Statewide GOP candidates cruised for votes, gave speeches and tested their popularity in a straw poll.
  
  Courting votes were U.S. Senate candidates Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck, Aurora City Councilman Ryan Frazier, and businessmen Cleve Tidwell, of Denver, and Mark Van Wyk, of Castle Rock. Also on the prowl for supporters were GOP gov candidates Sen. Josh Penry, R-Grand Junction, and Evergreen businessman Dan Maes, Scott Gessler, candidate for secretary of state, and Walker Stapleton, candidate for treasurer.
  
  The U.S. Senate straw poll results were: Frazier, 43 percent; Buck, 39 percent; Tidwell, 13 percent; Van Wyk, four percent, and KHOW talk radio host and attorney Dan Caplis, one percent. That adds up to 100 percent, leaving no percents for former 7th District Congressman Bob Beauprez, a possible contender whose name also was on the ballot.

  More surprising were poll results in the governor’s race: former Congressman Scott McInnis received 64 percent of the votes, despite being absent from the beach party. Penry captured 35 percent and Maes, one percent. Candidate Brian Watson, like Beauprez, was listed on the ballot but didn’t show up in the results.
  
  If there had been a contest for best-dressed surfer dude, the award would have gone to Rep. Kent Lambert, R-Colorado Springs. Instead of his typically conservative hairstyle and suit, Lambert sported wind-blown hair and wore sandals, baggies and a T-shirt.
  
  The crowd laughed hysterically when Lambert donned a knit cap and dreadlocks, kicked off his sandals and gyrated on a surfboard.
  
  Rivaling Lambert’s catch-the-wave showstopper was Buddy Gilmore, director of the party’s fundraisers, who belted out “Surfin’ USA.”
  
  Republican Reps. Mark Waller, of the Springs, and Amy Stephens, of Monument, took first and second prizes, respectively, in the chili cook-off.

  What’s the secret of Waller’s winning concoction?
  
  “My wife!” exclaimed Waller, who asked the crowd to thank Jennifer Waller.
  
  Peggy Littleton, a member of the State Board of Education and candidate for the El Paso County Board of Commissioners, asserted that the secret ingredients were beer in Waller’s chili and bourbon in Stephens’ dish.
  
  In addition to chili, the cookout menu included soda pop, chips, barbecued pork, hot dogs and hamburgers. The grill was supervised by Lynn Looper, husband of Rep. Marsha Looper.
  
  Before introducing the candidates vying for the party nomination to challenge Democrat Gov. Bill Ritter in 2010, a group of Republican lawmakers conveyed a message to the incumbent.
  
  “Tax-Us Ritter” was printed above a caricature of the governor on a banner held by Republican Reps. Lambert, Looper, Stephens and Waller, and Sen. Bill Cadman, of Colorado Springs.

Our agency has hired this band for performances at many events over the past several years… two of which were specifically my events: One, an annual black tie gala, and the other, a well–attended annual summer festival.
  
  On both occasions, the band and all personnel were both musically excellent and handled themselves in an extremely professionally manner.
  
  Their music and very inter-active show delighted the audiences at both events, and elicited rave reviews from both the purchasing clients, as well as from the guests present.
  
  They were prompt, courteous, and very attentive to every detail.
