Biography
We are John Blackwood and the Housewives. We've been playing together for about 2 years. We're influenced by all GOOD music, be it rock, rap, dance, electronic, folk etc. Specific bands include: Arctic Monkeys, the Killers, the Strokes, Jay-Z to name a few. A definite thing that sets us apart from other bands is our sound. It's different than other bands, because we are influenced by so much, yet we bring all our influences together into a unique sound. We are also a lot more driven than other bands, we want to succeed.
Current Accomplishments:
Michael Faraday was ranked #57 on power 97's top songs of 2009
We're receiving play on some college radio stations (u of alberta, u of calgary,Western, u of manitoba, red river[kick fm]) especially on the local stations. We've also been played on cbc radio 3 and added to their playlist as well as on Hot 103 ( a commercial radio station in winnipeg). We've received a lot of play on Power 97.
Michael Faraday is on a Midfinger Records compilation cd. 20,000 copies of this cd were distributed in Italy.
We were Manitoba finalists for the 'Canadian Radiostar Contest'.
We played the Scotiabank mainstage on Canada Day at the forks.
We were winners of a Power 97 contest "Rockin the 204"
