Biography

Till Sorrow Begins To Call is the highly anticipated new album from Trevor Alguire. The record takes the listener back through time to when heartfelt words that painted pictures were all that mattered. Weather backed by the simple rhythm of acoustic guitar and a haunting vocal, or by the sound that only a full band driven by old electric guitars and tube amps could produce. Ones senses are left heightened, leaving the listener able to almost smell the tubes cooling down as Alguire and producer Jason Jaknunas exit the studio after the day’s session.

Recorded at Metropolitan Studio in Ottawa Ontario, Alguire brought together a band of longtime friends and established musicians in their own right including PEI’s own Catherine MacLellan to craft 12 new songs that now make up this powerful new 4th album.

With Music News Nashville touting “Alguire has depth and breadth found in few artists on the current music scene”, one can’t but notice the worldwide respect he is gaining as a powerful introspective lyricist furthering TC Magazine to label Alguire as “one of Canada’s finest singer/songwriters with well crafted lyrics and a voice that knows how to deliver them.”

Alguire, hailing from small town Ontario in the Ottawa Valley, first drew attention in 2006 with the release of the album As of Yesterday. The album was critically acclaimed in the press with frequent comparisons to artists such as Steve Earl, Tom Petty, Blue Rodeo & Uncle Tupelo. These comparisons said As of Yesterday’s release landed Alguire his first record deal alongside fellow songwriters such as Steve Earle and Buddy Miller proving that Alguire was only at the start of such musical depth.

Alguire has since gone worldwide with consistent radio play across North America Europe and Australia. Two of Alguire’s songs have since been released on Blue Rose Records compilations alongside Gurf Morlix, Steve Earle & Dwight Yoakam also recently opening for Martha Wainwright at Ottawa Bluesfest, performing a much coveted showcase at the Contact East Conference and more recently opening for Jimmy Rankin as part of this year’s Juno awards.

With deep paths now worn in the dirt worldwide from relentless touring Alguire intends to continue to travel back down those paths endlessly “telling tales of life on the road, his words painting pictures of his country and its people. He is a great story teller with empathy and emotional depth matched by a warm sonorous and strong voice, reminiscent of Richard Buckner, Tim Easton and Michael Hall.”

- 2008- 'Thirty Year Run' co-produced by Prairie Oyster's Keith Glass (who also played guitar and sang on the album) has received world wide sales and rave reviews !
-2006-Trevor Alguire's first solo album 'As of Yesterday'
saw consistent world wide play and garnered rave reviews landing him a record deal with Blue Rose Records in 2007.
