Biography

Tim Culling is an Los Angeles based Singer/Songwriter
whose music is a confluence of American roots and British flavored alt-rock.

His new 7 song EP follow-up to his 2008 release “Ghost”
Is titled “Goodbye western sun”. It was recorded with the same team as on “Ghost “, with engineer Tommy Dietrick and drummer Joel Patterson both of Los Angeles band Sky Parade.
The songs on “Good bye western sun” are an assemblage of 60’s soul, and altcountry drenched with Wurlitzer’s and organs, which give it a warm slick vibe. All the songs on the EP were recorded in the winter of 2010 at Skylab studios in Encino California.

It's hard to pigeonhole singer-songwriter Tim Culling's sound without resorting to generic categories like "adult alternative pop/rock" as he offers up a little bit of pop, a little bit of rock, a little bit of soul and a little bit of alt-country in his sound. It all adds up to a winning mixture on this 7-track EP, led by the outstanding title track, which has an insistent piano hook that will bury itself in your subconscious, "So With That Aside", its bookend, is another brilliant number with an upbeat melody, and in between the Wilco-esque "This Much I Can See" and the bluesy "I Got a Friend" are the highlights. Possibly 2011's top EP to date.

You hear so little piano music these days with such a classic feel that brings out such warm feelings for old songs.
  A quieter alternative choice in music that is well written and conceived, like a love letter from an old lost friend. Lost in the quiet, ghost of the past in the rich fabric of your memory, Tim Culling calls forth the ghost and delivers a warm and memorable feeling in the melodies he writes. Barcelona Streets, with its classic feel could be a Bob Seger song with a bit more rasp in the vocals but it holds strong to the tradition of rock and roll and gets the mind wavering into a new artist Culling is able to deliver the feeling of pleasure to these ears that makes music worth listening to.
  So if you lay awake at night and wonder why no one makes music like they use to, listen to Tim Culling, that really takes the listener to where he is.
