Biography
The formation of Controlled Storms has been an interesting journey. Having written/performed songs acoustically, Steve made the move to Philadelphia, met Brandon and some different shows, the first EP, and a live improvised score for the choreography of local dancer Shannon Murphy really provided a sonic foundation for the band. The work premiered at the 2007 Fringe Festival and featured the release of the EP. Controlled Storms picked up Ben on bass, and has been able to participate in some rewarding benefits, solid shows, and helped organize and opened for the 75th birthday party of James Brown. Having completed our first full-length "Abandoned Amusement Parks" we performed on top of the Whole Foods in South Philly with two other bands, playing in a triangle, one song at a time with the audience seated in the middle. Controlled Storms strives to create music that let's you lose track of time, to help let ones mind wander for a bit. Our process is making dinner, and then practice, the music stemming from conversations, images, and sometimes just daily life and we hope this music finds you well and offers a small break from the everyday grind. Thanks for taking a chance, from our muscles to your ear drums.
