Biography
The Sand Dollar Four is an acoustic band with elements of Folk, Rock and Bluegrass, though these genres do not not totally portray the sound created when these musicians perform. Playing mainly original songs written by Matt Saraca, the band's sound is also due to the unmistakable sound of Pete Dotson-Westphalen's melodic and creative bass playing. Blended in between these instruments are the strong vocals of Mary Patterson.
Although Mary and Matt tend to share the leads vocals, The Sand Dollar Four has gravitated towards songs that encourage three part harmonies. This allows for some interesting twists on old covers as well as many lush moments in their original songs.
They've played independently and as a group in Burlington, VT. and Boston among other New England areas, and are currently booking shows around the East Coast.
