Biography

What is a band that can slip into the soundtrack of your life, then leave you humming the memories? That's Sleeps Six.

Founded by Pauline Groen, this is a band with depth. Groen's ear for evocative melodies serves up another collection of songwriting, following up the first album, titled "Nacre".

The grit and sheen combined are what make Sleeps Six a memorable live act...

Sleeps Six has continued its pace of performing at benefits, ranging from the Red Door women's shelter, Richmond Hill Food Bank, Toronto Epilepsy Foundation, YMCA Strong Kids Foundation, as well as festivals: two performances at NXNE Toronto, Red Roof Women's Music Festival in Tweed, Ontario, Music On Main Festival in Loretto, Ontario, three performances at the 2010 Indiegrrl Int'l Festival in Knoxville Tenn, and taken part in a writer's circle performance hosted by Joe Hrasna at the Blue Bar in Nashville, Tenn, all with invites to return as well as radio interviews available in Knoxville, notably the Blue Plate Special show on WDVX at 102.9 FM.
On the radio front, as of Tuesday, Aug. 23/11, Sleeps Six will be featured as part of a three month playlist on Women Of Substance online radio, with three songs from the newly released album featured. "What Do You Mean", "My Mind", and "Burnout" were selected for the playlist. "My Mind", along with "What Do You Mean" and "Hold On" have received interest for airplay at the Knoxville, Tennessee based radio station.
"What Do You Mean" has also received very favourable attention as a finalist in the Review Posse's "Expose Yourself" song contest. See review in Sleeps Six press category.

A recent appearance (May 2011) and performance on Rogers Daytime TV for York Region, Toronto, Ontario, with a standing invite to return anytime, as well as being selected for the television's upcoming pilot band spotlight series featuring indepth interviews/performances are further key signs that Sleeps Six is on the verge of a breakout in the media.
We're absolutely stoked to continue expanding our audience, and reaching people wherever there's a chance to do so. The raw energy and undeniable charisma of Sleeps Six is a perfect fit for music festivals and knows how to rock a set in any venue!

This energy of Sleeps Six has included...George Guerra, Mark Schaper, Craig O'Neil, Marc Ganetakos and David (Chuck) Brown.

Jim Field, while known as guitarist for Rhea's Obsession as well as his current project Spacenoiz, is bassist for Sleeps Six, as well as being a part of the newly released album titled "Late Enough", and it's like he never left his first instrument...Jon James serves as bassist for Sleeps Six shows on the road.

Both Rob Greenway of Brilliantfish as well as Sev Micron, former drummer for Tulpa, are contributing drummers for the live and recording stages of Sleeps Six. Greenway has performed with Amanda Marshall, Ray Montford amongst many world class acts. Sev Micron's drumming was an integral part of Tulpa for 7 years. His recording performance in "What Do You Mean", "My Mind", "All These Things" and "Hold On" is indicative of a classic, almost raw style perfectly matched for Sleeps Six.
