Biography
Born in Yerevan(Armenia), Lucineh Hovanissian has been performing on stage since the age of 9 as a soloist singer in Yerevan’s Municipal Park children’s Band, and at the age of 11, began performing as a pianist-composer. As a child she won awards at the Aram Khatchaturian young composers' competitions in Yerevan. Lucineh studied in the vocal department of the Jazz Art College and the Yerevan State Conservatory.
In 2002 she became a UNESCO laureate in music (Bursary Aschberg) & had the first prize (category "Solo Canto") at the VII International Festival 'MUSICWORLD' in Fivizzano, Italy in 2004.
She recorded her debut album in a 12th century rocky monastery's grotto in Armenia. "VEM- Sacred songs from Armenia" released in France(SM/Abeille Musique) in 2005 was nominated for Best Classical Voice Album at the 2006 Just Plain Folks Music Awards.
An open minded and multidisciplinary artist, she freely crosses the musical traditions and genres. In 2008 she won TORONTO EXCLUSIVE MAGAZINE AWARDS-International Artist of the Year. Her ‘MY CHILDHOOD’ song won BEST JAZZ SONG of the year.
In 2009 she won CEC ArtsLink fellowship & had an artistic residency at New York's Symphony Space.
Currently she is working on baroque-inspired solo project as pianist, vocalist and composer.

Lucineh has toured in Europe, North America, has shared the stage with Tinariwen, Juhani Aaltonen, and appeared on France Culture, YLE (Finnish Radio), WDR, NDR (Germany), CBC (Radio Canada).
She has performed at L’Archipel, Church St. Pierre de Montrouge (Paris), Lion d’Or (Montreal), St.John’s Church (Edinburgh), Symphony Space (New York).
Besides music, Lucineh is dedicating herself to neuroscience (she graduated from the Yerevan State Medical University and had specialization in neuroscience at Pierre & Marie Curie University in Paris).
