Evolving from an appreciation of Central Kentucky’s regional styles and sounds, the downtown county band creates their own maker’s mark on acoustic music. Originating on the cobblestone streets of Kentucky’s state capital Frankfort, these gentlemen are famed to liven up every town’s “hop joint”.

Biography

The Downtown County Band plays good time music. Hailing from Kentucky are a group of young men famed to induce toe-tapping and dancing! This group is based on a shared appreciation for acoustic roots music. The county band plays mainly original music and music from the turn of the 20th century through the 1940's. They celebrate jug band music born out of the Ohio and Mississippi River ways of life, as well as blues from the South.
The DCB has opened for Newgrass-originator Sam Bush and shared the stage with once Columbia and now Dualtone records recording artist Robinella. They have also shared the bill at festivals with notable musicians such as Leon Redbone, The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Chatham County Line, The Infamous String Dusters, Rod Picott, The Subdudes, Ras Alan and The Lions, The Waybacks, Ricky Skaggs and KY Thunder, Grascals and David Gans.

We have great deal of material available. We can play up to four forty-five minute sets with fifteen minute set breaks. We can also play longer or shorter sets depending on the venue and their recommendation.
