Biography

Jubal Kane from Charlotte, NC released their first album, Live Blues, October 2005 and was nominated for “Best Emerging Blues Artist 2005” by the King Biscuit Blues Festival, Helena, AR.

Harmonica Player and singer Ace Anderson has played the blues from the Mississippi Delta through Memphis, TN to North Carolina, where he now resides.

Lead Guitarist and singer Otis Thomas, native of Illinois. Came to Charlotte through a couple of years of playing in Texas.

Rhythm Guitarist/Bass Player and singer B.W. Carrigan, has played the blues for the past 40 years.

Jubal Kane has come together in a band that is unique while holding true to the blues.
Individually and collectively, they have opened for, or shared the stage with such blues legends as Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks, The Night Hawks, Lonnie Brooks, Room Full of Blues, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Debbie Davies and The Michael Hill Blues Mob.
They are just as comfortable playing small venues or large festivals.

  Old-school ‘60s British electric blues (think Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac or John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers) meets ‘70s Southern boogie (think the Allmans or any one of a number of little-known or heralded roadhouse acts that tore shit up and faded away into the ether) head-on in this oddball amalgam of a band that actually hails from the wonderfully-named hamlet of Lizard Lick, North Carolina.
  
  Their sound is a combination of heavy-handed classic rock groove drumming, syncopated, puckered guitar riffing, expressive, overdriven mouth harp, a lyrical approach that’s heavy on spooky mojo, and hints of droning West Coast psychedelic rock. Plus, their frontman and harpist Ace Anderson has been known to sport a wild orange and Creamsicle-colored stage getup that’s one part Maharishi and one part Romulan Dignitary.
  
  Long hair, shaggy beards, wicked, stinging guitar solos, and a relentless energy make these guys one of the more noteworthy regional touring blues acts to establish a foothold in this area in a long while.

Jubal-Kane has assembled 13 lucky blues tracks on their "Live Blues" record that is as honest and pure to blues roots as you can get. The harmonica sizzles with passion, slightly distorted and right - the vocalist ain't pretty. .just soulful and sad - the guitar expresses despair to our joyful experience. The band is really the finest blues we've got here on earBuzz - a throwback to the days when Peter Haycock, old Fleetwood Mac, and Muddy Waters were first recording their bare and intimately raw blues. For contemporary blues lovers - there is a taste of Stevie in the up-riffed lead parts. The opening track, "The Other Side of Town", is a boogie showcase of harp. Track 3, "Taildragger", is medium tempoed and laid back. Track 5, "Help Me", is a green onionish groove. Our favorite track is "Willie Brown Blues" - and it's probably because we're in the SF Bay area. . .upbeat mover. The final track, in its rightful place, is the slow slow blues number, "Buckwheat's Blues". the guitar is over the top acrobatic blues love. The record is a must for any classic lover of soulful blues rock.
