Biography
I have been writing music since 2002. AT UBC, I studied classical piano as well as voice, obtaining a Bachelor of Music in 2004. This gave me the tools I needed to branch off & explore many various styles, including those already mentioned. I am inspired by older soul/blues artists such as Aretha Franklin & Ray Charles, as well as more contemporary artists such as Alicia Keys & Christina Aguilera. No matter what genre I am performing in, I am known to put my pianistic technique & artistry to virtuostic use. Whether it be the contrapuntal techniques of Bach, the fast fingered runs of Mendelssohn, or the symphonic chording of Brahms with a little soul on top, all styles combine to create a fresh vibe for the contemporary audience. Exploring the many colours of the voice (both range & tone), my songs cater to all styles of music. Since the CD release, I have been performing all over the lower mainland of Vancouver, including coffee shops, special events such as benefit concerts, churches, and more! At the GMA Covenant awards in October of 2007, I won Best Jazz/Blues song of the year for "Loud & Clear". This recognition has rewarded me continued success in my field as both a singer-songwriter & pianist.
Instrumentation
If I am playing with a band, there are usually 4 members including myself.
1) Christine (myself) - piano/vocals (sometimes guitar)
2) Band members vary - drums, bass, guitar, (sometimes keys).

I have a repertoire of about 40 songs. These include my 10 songs from my debut CD. Depending on the venue, I can play a variety of orginal songs, cover songs, and new original material in a variety of styles on both piano or guitar. My performances can range from a 1/2 hour set opener for another band, or a 1 1/2 solo (or band) performance at various venues. Cover songs range from soul-pop songs of the current soul singers, such as "If I ain't got you" (Alicia Keys) to more light-hearted love songs such as "Feels like home" by Chantal Kreviazuk. Other cover songs include my own soul/jazz rendition of "You don't know me" (Ray Charles), as well as more folk style songs like like "You've got a friend" (James Taylor). I base my music selection (both christian &/or mainstream) on the type of audience I am catering to.
