Biography

The Bionic Monks are a different story as far as bands go. Eric [bass, lead vocals] had been in the music scene in Chicago 20 years ago playing guitar and drums for punk/metal bands but wound up getting out of it due to marraige and then sons. He still messed around writing music with an acoustic over the years but left it at that to be a dad.
The sons, Jeremy [drums12 yrs at the time] and Justin [guitar, back vocals 15 yrs old at the time], wound up following dad in his love for rocking and it did'nt take much to convince him to start a band with them. Eric started teaching Justin the guitar and Jeremy the drums. The first jam they put together was out in the pole barn and it went on and on but the boys had a blast and were hooked.
Four songs later they did thier first show at a big party where Jeremy claimed he had a unique medical issue arise and he couldnt play [stage fright]. Eric convinced him to play 1 song and if it didnt go good they would stop the show. The crowd went wild and Jeremy was good to go for 2 sets [hooked].
The bands lyrics stray from the common negativity in this genre and are serious and silly in subject matter
Since then we have aquired a second guitarist named Dan Emerson and Jeremy has become very involved in the High school music program and is now our back up drummer. The rockin "Dwayne Bowman has takin over the drums. We have a full lenght cd's worth of music and rumor has it we rock ,especially live. We have a 10 song demo out entitled "We Can Be Rebuilt" and had been signed with a record label called "Empty Vessel Music"
[www.emptyvesselmusic.com] which is also big into community charity.
We have shirts and cd's for sale so get you one and rock/mosh/stagedive to one of the most unique bands around.

Bionic Monks:

The Bionic Monks are truly a band of brothers. This family band includes members from young to old, and the chemistry is heard throughout each song. Their crunchy, bass-thumping riffs create havoc in each song. The guitar solo's remind me of Kirk Hammett, which is a big statement, but the talent is there. Add in the old school vocals, and the combination brings a smile to your face. There is definitely some classic metal in this family's bloodline, which is a great thing for this band's future. Reviews of their live shows have been good, so I see nothing but good things for this band in the future. Maybe need a name change, but that's just me!

Band Aid Magazine Bionic Monks review, Strand Theater, Shelbyville, IN - 7/12/08 We'll start with The Bionic Monks, as they played first. And let me tell you, they were great. The sound in the Strand Theater wasn't the greatest but it is most definitely not the worst I've heard. But despite that minor flaw, TBM had some great music. On their myspace ( http://www.myspace.com/thebionicmonks ) they label their music as Rock / Metal / Punk. I'd have to say that's a very apt description. With Dad on the bass and lead vox, the older son playing guitar, the younger son (you guess his age...I was way off) on the skins and a family friend completing the quartet on guitar, they pulled of the mixture of styles quite well. I expect to hear a lot more from these guys in the future.
