Biography

Born in Krakow (Poland) under the surname of Robert Pieculewicz, I started to learn classical guitar at 12 years old.
Once listening to Van Hallen, I asked my parents to buy my first electric guitar and soon started to play in a local band called Vandetta.
Boosted by the "guitar heroes" movement during the 90's, with a pure composer feeling, I started to self produce my own songs, melting deep melodies, diversity and talent.

Since 1994 I have already published 6 albums as composer, arranger and interpreter. If my first two albums were decisive tries, the next ones, Fy free , Speed limit and then Electric heart, are close to V.Halen, S.Vai and J.Satriani creations and perfection.
With a tremendous technique, a magic touch and a natural feeling, Steve Allen can easily melts metal, classical atmospheres and percussive tempi.

« Blue Metal », produced by Crystal Planet, is his last 2006 opus in which his music is getting deeper and acute. Created during a difficult period of his life, Steve ALLEN tries to share his daily blue feelings and his pain.
I am now known in Western Europe as an all-round artist, not only in clubs or professional studios but also among metal fans clubs.

Since 2006 I have been working with the French publisher Crystal Music Recording.
A new or live album with the best of Steve ALLEN will be produced at the beginning of 2010.
I also often play with Partners of Time group and Kapitalna Kapela Kapelusze.
In november 2009 I played with Richie KOTZEN in prime time concerts

  On l’avait déjà rencontré sous son vrai nom, Robert Pieculewicz, et c’est cette fois sous un patrony...On l’avait déjà rencontré sous son vrai nom, Robert Pieculewicz, et c’est cette fois sous un patronyme d’emprunt anglicisé pour encore un peu plus se rapprocher de ses influences puisées chez Van Halen et autres guitar heroes que Steve Allen revient avec un nouvel opus, le sixième, riche des sonorités de sa guitare fabriquée sur mesures par un luthier de Cracovie et d’un talent de composition qui ne nécessite que très peu d’artifices pour faire passer de très bonnes vibrations.
  
  Avec un style directement venu des glorieuses eighties, suffisamment diarrhéique pour en mettre plein la vue au spectateur médusé mais aussi assez humble pour ne pas pêcher par excès, Steve Allen conforte une place de choix qu’il a conquis en se retrouvant en finale des Nuits de la Guitare de Lausanne mais aussi en se produisant sur les scènes d’Europe de l’Ouest et nous séduit une fois encore en sortant la carte du tout instrumental …
  Associant une dextérité impressionnante et un feeling époustouflant, Steve Allen se démarque de ces sado-masochistes du manche chez qui le but unique et avoué est de mettre le plus de notes sur le moins d’espace possible et nous présente des compositions sur lesquelles le solo est un plus, certes indispensable, qui se pose sur une rythmique impeccable. Avec de véritables compositions que l’on verrait bien en guise de fil rouge de films policiers sur lesquelles l’artiste multiplie les breaks et les effets de style, « Blue Metal » se révèle très vite comme une des œuvres les plus mûres et les plus riches du moment, compensant avec talent et brio le manque de sorties d’une génération de dinosaures qui a tout dit ou presque en lui apportant sa fraîcheur de ton et sa limpidité de jeu. D’un « Castel » à un « Crusader », on croise sans même voir le temps défiler des morceaux d’une rare ingéniosité comme « Blue », « The Last Samurai » ou « Dancing With The Sun » et si l’on regrette quand même un peu que l’expérience de « Stay Away From The Dark » sur lequel la voix faisait une intéressante apparition à l’époque de « Electric Heart » n’ait pas été renouvelée, on se console très rapidement avec une dizaine de titres très équilibrée mais aussi très diversifiée dans le but clairement affiché de ne lasser ni l’interprète ni son public. Bien décidé à retranscrire sur un album live prévu pour 2007 les meilleures de ses compositions, et dieu sait si elles sont nombreuses, cet instrumentiste hors du commun dont la technique est aussi riche que droite n’attend plus que la reconnaissance internationale à laquelle il est prédestiné depuis qu’il a attrapé sa première guitare classique alors qu’il n’avait qu’une douzaine d’années … Depuis, que de chemin parcouru et que de découvertes réjouissantes faites avec l’arrivée de la guitare électrique dans la vie du jeune homme ! Des artistes de cette trempe, on en voudrait tous les jours …

If sometimes his way of playing looks like SATRIANI or VAI style, Steve ALLEN musical personality is present notably in "Reggae", "She", "Charon" or "Stay Away From The Dark".

  Six strings Master, Steve ALLEN seems to be born with a guitar! Playing as well as Joe Satriani or Steve Vaï, Steve ALLEN creates in each song incandescent soli always more seducing and catching. Acute and percussive the music of this polish artist is straight and does not admit mistakes. With powerful and catching phrases (sometime slightly old fashion), expressive mid-tempi and terrific rising or falling scales, his guitar is completely extrovert so as to strengthen its blazing intonations. From ballads to incisive metal songs, we felt in love with "Rain Ballad", "Desert Rose" or "The Prince And The Beggar" from "Speed Limit !" but also "She", "Charon", "Shadow And Dust" or "Arizona Dream" from magisterial "Electric Heart" which ends with a promising "Stay Away From The Dark", the only song with a singer!
