Biography
Daisy Ricochet is the brainchild of Neil Cabana, a Montreal born singer/songwriter/producer from NYC who became uninterested in pursuing his solo career to put together a "rock" outfit. His influences of pop sensibility across the map, including The Pixies, The Police, to Swervedriver and Brian Eno, he wrote and recorded the album "Need" in the winter of 2003/2004 with the help of numerous colleagues-including Producer/Engingeer-Nic Hard (Gold Record Producer of The Bravery), (Columbia recording artist/drummer) Joe Magistro of Prophet Omega, The Ranch Studios (upstate New York), and artist Andy Grooms to name a few.
"Need" has been praised with great reviews despite the usual curse of the critics, comparing DR to bands such as The Foo Fighters, Elliot Smith, and Radiohead, just grazing the surface of Daisy Ricochet's signature sound. Manager Sean Collins describes the album as if an early Brian Eno had a cloned baby with the mix of Alice N' Chains and the Beach Boys and sent the kid to an indi-do it yourself school of rock.
Having written music for a four piece band, Neil enlisted Matt Prine (Co-owner of The Ranch) for second guitar and a signature rhythm section consisting of Brett Sharbaugh (bass) from Baltimore, MD and Carlo David (drums) of NYC. While supporting the record playing shows from 2004-2005, DR managed to build a growing fan-base and sell CD's. The band established some satellite, college, internet and foreign radio play-including a 3 month tried and tested "residency" on XM Satellite Radio's R>A>D>A>R REPORT in the TOP 20 at #1 for four weeks. Also with the existence of a firm online presence, came label interests and music placements on commercial and cable television shows including the next up and coming season of MTV's-The Inferno, numerous episodes on extreme sports channel EPIC Sports TV, and Florida based show The Bite.
Up to date, DR has evolved into a "to the point" trio as its core, leaving a 2nd guitarist as an option for writing and shows with a lineup consisting of Brett Sharbaugh, Carlo David and of course, main writer Neil Cabana. Working steadily on new material, Neil is as prolific as ever. With Brett's addition to writing, and Carlo's natural understanding of music and rhythm, they're far from encountering a writer's block.
New songs consist of working titles such as "Stay", "My Drug", "Kill the Radio" and "Baby Wanna".
They are expecting a new album as a trio to be finished before the year ends. Nic Hard, who mixed "Need", will co-produced this one with Neil in order to keep him in artist shoes.
