The female R&B Soul soloist Teya Monae is a
native of North Carolina. Although she is only 16
years old, Teya Monae possesses a certain soul quality that is missing in today's R&B. Not only is she a great singer; she is also an outstanding performer. Teya Monae takes pride in her lyrical contributions to the songs that she sings.
Teya Monae's performances and sound reminds you of a young Beyonce, with a soulful hint of a young Aretha Franklin. Her dance styles are on the levels of Aaliyah, Janet Jackson and Ciara. She has opened for artist such as Keisha Cole, Sammie, Trey Songz, Rich Boy, Tank and many others.
Teya Monae's single “Pop It” is currently in rotation on several major radio stations. She is currently completing her album "The Jewelry Box" which is scheduled to be released late November 2008.
