Biography

I played guitar intensely as a teenager in the blues/rock scene in London, England, even played a gig at the famed Marquee Club. After returning to the US, I gigged with various cover bands, wrote lots of forgettable music, spent time learning bass, drums, and piano--as well as honing my guitar skills--and raised a family.

Three years ago, I returned to music full time, touring with the Alimony Blues Band. I now play bass and lead guitar with the classic power-rock band IX Lives. I run a small recording studio where I produced my first release in March of 2008, a blues-classical crossover EP which received good reviews including a mention in Vintage Guitar Magazine. I finished a full length progressive rock CD in April 2009, recorded with Dani Daly, an outstanding female vocalist from West Bend, Wisconsin. Dani sings and plays keyboards with cover band Oil Can Harry--voted best band of 2008 by Milwaukee's Shepherd Express.

Sounds right. So does this EP from ace guitarist Cailyn Lloyd of Wisconsin's IX Lives band. Along with her own "Clouds" -- beautifully sung by pal Kelly Rose -- Lloyd expertly interprets those immortals, whetting the appetite for a full disc; especially is Rose is at the microphone. -- RA

  Cailyn is an amazing guitarist somewhere in the realm of early Joe Satriani or Yngwie Malmsteen, but...Cailyn is an amazing guitarist somewhere in the realm of early Joe Satriani or Yngwie Malmsteen, but with more melody. She starts off with her version of “Little Wing”, which she pulls off very well and even throws in a few Eddie Van Halen licks for fun. The second song “Clouds” is much better and an original. Cailyn’s songwriting shows through and of course the guitar is the focal point. The final two tracks are classical songs blended with rock, which has been done many times, yet she still pulls it off nicely and gives the classics a bit of her own style. Overall an impressive disc and a must have if you’re into guitar virtuosos.
