Jenna Tague brings Hawaii a "Small Piece of Heaven" (Takin' a Train Home, Jenna Tague) through her a...Jenna Tague brings Hawaii a "Small Piece of Heaven" (Takin' a Train Home, Jenna Tague) through her autobiographical songwriting and dedication to creating a community of songwriters on the island of Oahu. Her music is a ray of southern sunshine welcomed in the mostly sunny-island-tune drenched town of Honolulu.
Tague's first guitar cost her two dollars, sold to her by her father, who is audibly an inspiration behind many of her songs along with her husband, Taylor, her faith, and her ability to see the beauty in life. Songs such as "Something More" and "Heart in the Kitchen" invite us into her world as she shares raw feelings sung sweetly with courage.
Fans of Natalie Merchant, Jewel and The Wreckers will definitely find that Tague's faith inspired folk EP "Takin' a Train Home" deserves a place within their music collection.
Tague has been performing regularly at Morning Brew for the Oahu Songwriters Group open mic which she coordinates every third Friday of the month. She also is a dedicated OSG member, sharing her music and collaborating with other songwriters.Tague is relocating to the mainland within the next few months, so time is running out to experience this talented performer live. Jenna Tague, Honolulu singer songwriter, will be performing her last gig this Saturday, 3/27, at Han...Jenna Tague, Honolulu singer songwriter, will be performing her last gig this Saturday, 3/27, at Hank's Cafe during the OSG songwriters showcase.
The talented Tague is relocating to South Carolina as of next Tuesday, 3/30. She plans to continue her singing, songwriting, and participation within the local songwriter community as soon as she is settled. South Carolina will be lucky to not only have Tague's life inspired folk tunes, but her ability to rally local talent to create a strong musical community. Her avid and dedicated participation within the Oahu Songwriters Group has been a driving force in molding what the organization has become today.
Tague's musical achievements while living on Oahu include: her organizing the Morning Brew songwriters showcase in Kailua, her song Small Piece of Heaven being included on the OSG compilation CD, and her musical critique's being well respected within the island songwriting community.
The farewell festivities shall commence at 9:00 p.m. and end upon closing (approximately 1:00 a.m.). While this is Tague's last performance, other local songwriters will be taking up the stage to send her off in true musician form, musically.

Special buffett honors Brazil
Celebrate Brazil's Independence Day at Crouching Lion Inn Bar & Grill on Sunday with a special buffet featuring popular Brazilian dishes.

24 eateries host 'Taste at Kapolei'
Graze through the fare of more than 30 top isle restaurants at Taste at Kapolei, the annual benefit, now in its 10th year, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 12.
The main venue will feature 24 eateries including Sam Choy's, Don Ho's Island Grill, Formaggio, Gordon Biersch, Haleiwa Joe's, Indigo, P.F. Chang's, Top of Waikiki, Auntie Pasto's, Da Spot, Hapa Grill and Tanioka's.
A VIP section spotlights chefs Chai Chaowasaree of Chai's Island Bistro, Fred DeAngelo of Ola at Turtle Bay, Ron DeGuzman of Stage, Scott Higa of Ihilani Resort & Spa, Elmer Guzman of Poke Stop, Dean Okimoto of Nalo Farms, Darryl Shinogi of Roy's Restaurants, Russell Siu of 3660 on the Rise and David Paul of David Paul's Island Grill.
And for the first time, Kapolei High School's Culinary Arts Academy will participate, with red velvet and orange cream cupcakes.
Drinks will be provided by HASR, Carneros della Notte, Flavors of Italy, Barefoot Wine, Better Brands, Paradise Beverages, Anheuser-Busch, Bacardi USA and Grey Goose Vodka.

Isle farmers join 'Food, Inc.' lineup
Learn more about the food we eat at screenings of the film "Food, Inc." that also will feature discussions by local farmers and food advocates.
The film interviews experts such as Eric Schlosser, author of "Fast Food Nation," and Michael Pollen, who penned "The Omnivore's Dilemma." It reveals surprising facts about what we eat and how it's produced, and the way food affects our nation and its future.
Screenings are 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Brigham Young University's auditorium and 4 p.m. Monday at Punahou School's Thurston Memorial Chapel.
The Saturday screening will provide a keiki-friendly film and activity nearby; Monday's event also features a food tasting provided by Town restaurant prior to the movie.

Chef shares pasta secrets
Vino Italian Tapas & Wine Bar chef Keith Endo will present a cooking demonstration of new pasta dishes he's created.
Endo recently returned from a mainland trip where he worked with three Italian food specialists, one of whom worked with top Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy.
The demo is slated for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Vino, located at Restaurant Row. Reservations required; call 533-4476.
Mavro earns kudos from Gayot
Gayot, a reviewer of restaurants worldwide, has singled out Chef Mavro restaurant as the only Hawaii venue to earn three toques and an 18/20 rating.
Gayot's rating system is based on a 20-point scale that assesses the quality and freshness of the food, creativity and innovation. The three toques indicate an "excellent" rating.
"We start each morning with nothing. No ingredients from yesterday, no ratings from yesterday. We're happy when guests and critics give us positive reviews, but tomorrow we start from nothing again," says chef George Mavrothalassitis.

MAC 24-7 hosts 'Man vs. Food'
MAC 24-7, famous for its enormous portions, recently hosted Adam Richman of the Travel Channel's "Man vs. Food" show, wherein Richman took the MAC-Daddy challenge: a three-tier stack of 14-inch pancakes.
The episode airs Sept. 9, and MAC 24-7 is holding a celebration at the restaurant, complete with an invitation for patrons to take the same challenge Richman did. Success will earn diners a chance to win complementary pancakes and a one-night stay at the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio. The restaurant also will premiere a new Create-Your-Own-Pancake service that offers 20 different toppings.
