Inky Glass

Genre: Blues
Secondary Genre: Acoustic New York, New York USA Contact

Inky has performed internationally from the streets to "real classy" places... like the local high school...since 1976. Her music is to the bones Blue. Think of a female Leonard Cohen, with a twist of Bessie Smith, and a chaser of Tom Waits. Low down, heartfelt and achy.

Artist Information

Biography

Thoughtful Lyrics, with a sensuous powerhouse of a voice, Inky is to the bones blue. Kim Carnes sums her up best; “Pure as NY Snow". Think of a younger (female) version of Leonard Cohen with a twist of Bessie Smith, a splash of Tom Waits, garnished with both Lucinda Williams and Billie Holiday...and then you can pour yourself an Inky Glass of the Blues.

Musically influenced by a wide variety of brilliant artists with favorites such as Robert Johnson, Janis Joplin, Big Mama Thornton Ani Difranco, Bob Dylan and Nick Cave and Lou Reed; Inky's sound is Smokey, achy, and opaque. Inky has performed internationally as a tap dancer, singer, actress, and an annoying street mime based on Charlie Chaplain.

"Inky Glass has a raw, genuine delivery and a somewhat ironic songwriting style. Her lyrics take you by surprise, and while they may be a little dark, they do display a clever use of words."

"...Glass' stark, simple explanations provide a more artistic view than the most high-brow poetry... Miss Fit represents the mostly lucid triangulations of a mind that's traveled life's emotional rough waters.

"She is definitely a talent, singer Inky Glass. She lets With her debut CD "Miss Fit" a huge impression on me...she sings in a way that the inside of the human brain in stirring vigorously. Twenty minutes is the singer and understated then raw and furious..."
