Ken Wenzel

Genre: Singer/Songwriter
Secondary Genre: Americana Washington, District of Columbia USA Contact

Yearning, singable songs that sleep in empty beds, stare down open roads, flee from towns too small and reach for dreams too big... all delivered with a smoldering spirit, a dusty voice, and a searching heart.

Artist Information

Biography

Illinois-born Ken Wenzel is a study in contradictions: a guitarist who plays saxophone, a singer who writes instrumentals, a purveyor of restless sentimentality who continues to search for truths best found within.

As a singer-songwriter, Ken has been gaining attention in the DC area with his midwestern-accented musings, telling stories spun from a life spent moving from town to town: Las Vegas, LA, New York, Japan. He often performs solo, but occasionally appears with the 5-piece band Cross Kentucky.

As a saxophonist, Ken is an in-demand freelancer in the DC area, having played with artists both local and national- including Frankie Avalon, Ben Vereen, Bobby Parker, and Carlos Santana. He's performed on broadway tours, at international festivals, and overseas.
