Biography
Jayme's songs have been successfully used as incidental/background music on A&E, CMT, Fine Living Network, Logo, PBS and the Travel Channel. Her music has enjoyed significant airplay on terrestrial and Internet radio and has garnered a string of glowing reviews. Jayme's songs are hip and intelligent, yet accessible and timeless. Her formal education includes a serious study of vocal performance, music theory and poetry at Colorado College, and film and television production at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. She holds a Master's degree in mass communication from the University of Denver. She has been endorsed by Elixir Guitar Strings, and has enjoyed ASCAPLUS Award Winner status for the last seven years. A Performing Member of Indiegrrl.com, her debut CD was among the top 40 selected out of 300 submissions.
Instrumentation
Jayme's latest CD features 18 talented musicians including Barry Phillips on cello and tabla, Shelley Phillips on English horn, Radim Zenkl on low whistle, Topher Gayle on acoustic guitar, mandolin and mandola, Autumn Hancock on violin, Matt Bohn on bass, Phil Campbell on baritone guitar, Rhan Wilson on percussion, and more. Setlist
The Jayme Kelly Curtis Band includes bass, percussion, violin, acoustic guitar and violin. A typical gig is a concert setting with much attention given to creating an intimate, sensory experience with crystal clear vocals. Jayme is frequently accompanied by renowned players and is known for giving them plenty of room to stretch out and improvise on smokey folky rocking originals with a jazzy sensibility. An avid song collector, Jayme also loves performing "classic songs for classic people" as a soloist and/or with her jazz trio. As a regional artist, Jayme enjoys a reputation for warm, meaningful showcases featuring literate, soulful songs and the Bay Area's best instrumentalists. Jayme also has a talent for producing innovative split bill showcases and "in the round" events, and enjoys introducing her audience to new talent.
