Biography
M, The Mighty Quinn (born Michael Quinn)bridges the stylistic gap between modern pop-rock aesthetics and classic songwriting slants of the 60's, 70's and 80's. Born out of the "Do it yourself" ethos of the 80's punk movement and 90's grunge scene, M, The Mighty Quinn taught himself to play the drums, the guitar, the bass, the piano, and eventually, how to sing. Paired with the home recording boom of the 90's, Mike began writing and recording songs in his teens. After paying dues playing the drums in variuos bands, he decided it was time to put his songwriting chops to the test, fronting midwest favorites "Nonstop3," and eventually "Confident Years". In the early 2000's, Mike spent time finishing an English degree at the University of Missouri and touring coast to coast, sharing stages like The Pageant (St. Louis, MO), The Roxy (Los Angeles, CA), and even The Troubadour (Los Angeles, CA) with notable acts such as Superdrag, Nada Surf, Fenix TX, Story of The Year, and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus to name a few. In those few years Mike learned a lot about songwriting, the music industry, and life in general, eventually landing back where he started as a solitary performer and songwriter. This time around though, his ear is sharper. Life as a solo artist has lent itself to the experimentation and genre-bending tendencies that have emerged in M, The Mighty Quinn's music, earning him comparisons to artists as diverse as Green Day, Elvis Costello, MGMT, Mike Posner, Chromeo and even Kanye West.
