(NASHVILLE, TN) - Country-Pop vocalist/singer-songwriter EILEEN CAREY, recently returned to Nashville to perform four separate times during the “Indiegrrl Women In the Arts Conference:” At “Rockin’ Moms” Showcase;" “Womens Radio Guerilla Showcase,” “Indiegrrl Showcase,” and at the “Nette Radio Showcase.” The Indiegrrl Women In The Arts Conference is one of the biggest, most important yearly gatherings showcasing today’s brightest new female artists in all music genres.

Carey took home “2009 Song of the Year” honors at the recent 5th Annual South Bay (Los Angeles) Music Awards for “That Was Her, This Is Now,” written by country stalwart Keith Urban and Vernon Rust and appearing on her newly-released CD, MOVIN’ ON (MyRecordLabel.net). Her latest single “Out With The Girls” is currently ascending the Pop-Country Radio charts and was added to the current Episode of WomensRadio Music Review Podcast (http://sizzlinsoundz.audioacrobat.com/rss/womensradio_music_review_podcast.xml). “That Was Her, This Is Now” and “Hearts Of Time” from Carey’s previous CD of the same name are receiving airplay on San Diego’s New Country 95.7 as well as other Country and AAA stations nationwide.

Fresh off the bus in Nashville, Tennessee but definitely not wet behind the ears, Cleveland, Ohio native, sing/songwriter Eileen Carey has been around the music scene for years. Influenced by all the Motown greats and artists like Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, The Beatles and writer Diane Warren, Eileen shows tribute, but unlike so many others, doesn’t mimic what she heard as a child but integrates it and adds her own spin.

At age 8, Eileen’s parents gave her a drum set for Christmas. Then by age 13, Eileen mastered the drums and grew to love singing and writing under the watchful eye of a family that inspired and supported her. Her first solo performance came in the school Christmas pageant where she sang Silver Bells and she hasn’t looked back since.

As so many do, feeling the fences of her small town holding her in, but with the support of friends, family and fans, she packed up and moved to Los Angeles to put herself and her contemporary-country with a splash of blues style to the test as the little fish in the big ocean.

In Los Angeles, Eileen found acceptance and success in the regional music scene. It seemed that all she had to do was open her mouth and who ever was there, even if they came to see someone else, became an instant fan. Releasing two albums, performing at charity events, acquiring several awards for her performances, writing and finding herself with cuts climbing the indie charts, Eileen found a great niche market in L.A. She says, “The greatest moment, for
me, was hearing my song on the radio for the first time.” Eileen was even one of the original “uh-huh girls” that backed Ray Charles in a Pepsi campaign and at the Super Bowl. Eileen also had some success with acting parts in Batman, Hoffa and Basic Instinct.

Now, this driven artist has made her way, as all artist/writers do at one juncture or another, to “the writers’ city”, Nashville, Tennessee. It was time to go up against the big guns and put everything she has learned to the test in Nashville.

Eileen Carey, a new kind of artist has a great contemporary country feel that, in our hearts, we are all seeking. In an age where mastering of machinery instead of instruments is hailed, where sampling of the old instead of creating the new is rewarded, and where, “that’s ok, we’ll just fix it in the mix” is more frequent than a one-take-wonder, Eileen Carey breaks the mold of what some call progressive
and others call a throw back. She has the pitch to carry a show without anything but a mic, she has the skill to create new and passionate music with only the influence of the music we all remember and she can play her own drums, if she wants to without a click track or an electrical outlet.

Her favorite part of her career in music is, “Putting a smile on someone’s face. When I see that, I know I have done my job.” Eileen Carey – come let her put a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

  Blair Garner’s “After MidNite” is likely the most popular syndicated overnight program at Country Radio, with stations and listeners nationwide.
  
  Spins on Garner’s show are treasured by all the major Music Row labels, so when indy artist Eileen Carey’s energetic new cover of Patsy Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight” was played in a contest on Blair’s show last week, it was big news.
  
  And when listeners gave Eileen’s song 55 clicks out of a possible 100, it was even more exciting.
  
  “Any time you get over 50 percent, that’s great,” said Radio promotion veteran Gene Kennedy of Nashville’s Gene Kennedy Enterprises and Doorknob Records, Carey’s Radio promoter.
  
  Carey said: “Wow, what a Tuesday morning! First, it was amazing to be played on `After MidNite,’ which airs on stations in major and medium markets all across the United States. But then to be the only independent artist on the same list with major-label artists, and having your song picked by the fans – what more could you ask for!”
  
  Carey’s soulful, bluesy performance of the song is a very different interpretation than Patsy’s original.
  
  “I think that the people who are reacting the most to Eileen’s record are not familiar with Patsy’s version,” Kennedy said. “Blair Garner has a younger listening audience, and a lot of his stations are getting calls from their listeners for Eileen’s record.”
  
  That wasn’t the only cool news Eileen and her music received in late January.
  
  Last Tuesday, the title song of her current “Hearts Of Time” album received a nomination for Best Country Song at the Southern California Music Awards. The Awards will be presented Feb. 11 at LA’s Warner Grand Theater.
  
  “What exciting news!” Eileen said. “It was terrific to have my song picked out of all of this amazing pool of talent, and have my songwriting recognized. It’s a great honor.”
  
  With the way things are going for Eileen Carey both at Radio and with fans nationwide, it’s likely to be just the first of many awards and nominations the lovely Californian will soon receive.

  I always like to see it when an artiste decides to dedicate some of the money raised from an album to children's charity, which Eileen Carey has done. A pleasant album of songs about life and times, some of which are written by Eileen herself, notably Hollywood, one of my favourite tracks. I also very much enjoyed the gentle Someone Like You. Good backing arrangements and I like the violin floating through. Another pick was Eileen's own Blue Collar Man, with a funky beat. Lazy is another of her own compositions sung through a megaphone by the sounds of things at the beginning suggesting she is calling out to the lazy one. Song words are in the sleeve.

  Eileen Carey has been for quite some time a staple in the L.A. music scene. She is now ready to take her music to a broader audience.
  
  Her music can be heard on over 100 college and 60 popular radio stations, as well as on special stations in the USA, the Netherlands, Canada, Japan and Australia. Eileen Carey was also nominated by the Los Angeles Music Awards 2000 as "Best Adult Contemporary Artist".
  
  She was born and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. Influenced by the huge record collection of classic Motown singles her sister had, it has helped her to appreciate all kinds of music and to create the style of country music the writes and sings today. She took vocal lessons when she was 20 years old as well as acting and theater classes. After she went through the various stages, she decided to concentrate on writing and singing of songs, because that's what was in her heart!

  (Nashville) Is country radio punishing the classics, or just Martina McBride? That’s the question McBride fans have been asking as newcomer Eileen Carey appears to get more airtime for her version of “Walkin’ After Midnight” than McBride has since her crossover success.
  
  Indy artist Eileen Carey's energetic new cover of Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight" has been popular on the secondary radio market since her debut on Blair Garner’s syndicated “After MidNite” Country Radio show.
  
  Now the established country diva, Martina, seems to be sharing her fans with Eileen. And maybe air time. McBride’s fans have noticed that “Walkin’ After Midnight” seems to be attracting more playtime than McBride’s “I Still Miss Someone.”
  
  “I’m just thrilled to be mentioned on Martina’s fansite. But it’s even better to know that her fans are enjoying my music,” said Eileen.
  
  McBride fans aren’t the only ones enjoying Eileen’s music. “Walkin’ After Midnight” was highly rated by fans in a contest on `After MidNite,' which airs on stations in major and medium markets all across the United States.

  Clear Channel's WGAR/Cleveland saw its ratings soar in 2005, when the Country outlet became the top-rated Music station in that vital, Top 25 market.
  
  WGAR got that way by making excellent Music decisions. One of the station's best was to begin spinning the new single by a Cleveland native, Eileen Carey's cover of Patsy Cline's midtempo classic, "Walkin' After Midnight."
  
  "It's very exciting to be played on any Radio station, but your hometown is very special!" Carey said in an interview from her home in Pasadena. "You get to share your Music with your family and friends, the folks who supported you in this Music journey."
  
  It's ironic that "Walkin' After Midnight" was Patsy's first Top 5 Radio single in 1957; Eileen's version, which is a little bluesier than Patsy's original, has been a breakthrough single as well.
  The song has already reached the Top 35 of the New Music Weekly Country chart, and is being spun at stations in the USA, Canada, and overseas.
  
  "I have been a big fan of Patsy Cline for a long time, even more now," Carey said. Eileen's cover of "Walkin' After Midnight" is gaining the Cleveland native her own legion of big fans every week.
  
  A Video of the song is being developed, perhaps with images of both Eileen and Patsy, along the lines of the Natalie Cole/Nat King Cole Video of "Unforgettable."
  
  She took up the drums at age 8, and by 13 was writing and performing her own songs. Eileen fell in the love with the music of Motown, the Beatles, Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, and the Los Angeles songwriter Diane Warren.
  
  She moved to LA herself in the early 1990s, acted in some movies, got married and had two girls, and became a success in the hotel business as an executive with the Sheraton chain. All the while, she developed her Music and her live act in the busy Southern California club scene.
  
  "I was hiring entertainment for Sheraton Hotels, and now I was the entertainment," she says. "I love playing live, I just feel at home when I'm on stage. I'm very content there."
  
  Soon, Eileen began commuting back and forth to Nashville three or four times a year to write and record. She did some terrific indy albums, Possibilities and most recently Hearts Of Time. She built a very talented and powerful Nashville support team, including producer Travis Allen, co-writers Walter Garland and Joe Alford, Radio promoters Gene Kennedy and Matthew Wilkes, Video director Darren Christianson, and publicist Deborah Danker.
  
  Like many great Country artists, Eileen Carey's life has been a journey. Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Nashville have all left their marks on her unique vocals and songs; now the journey to Country Radio that "Walkin' After Midnight" has launched is taking her straight to the top
