Biography
All veteran musicians of the South Sound music scene, Olympia's Freckles Brown Band came together in the spring of 2008 by way of a Craig’s List posting and some good luck, and has quickly become one of the busiest bands in the South Sound.
In the past two years the band has been performing an average of 44 shows a year, including:
• Olympia Wooden Boat Fair
• Lacey Spring Fun Fair
• Capitol Lakefair
• Bite of Seattle
• Tenino Trail Days and Wine Festival
• Gig Harbor’s Summer Sounds Concerts in Park
• Grays Harbor Heat in the Street Car Show
• Poulsbo’s Summer Nights at the Bay
• Port Orchard’s Concerts on the Bay
• Longbeach’s Summerfest and Rodeo Days
• Shelton Music in the Parks
• Kirkland Summer Concert Series, Marina Park
• Kitsap Harbor Waterfront Festival
• Chehalis’s Krazy Dayz Car Show
• Mercer Island’s Mostly Music in the Parks
• Morton Loggers Jubilee
• Hoquiam On Track Art’s Festival
• Olympia Downtown Association Black Tie Fundraiser
• DaVita Corporation Northwest National Bike Rally Reception.
But Freckles Brown is not exclusively a festival band. Acting as “Bruce Wayne” at their daytime family shows, the band members' “Batman” personae come out at night, on rotation at the local clubs and numerous private social organizations. Take a look at the website's guestbook comments, and both their schedule and previous dates and you will see they stay busy!
The guys in this band are all experienced musicians and gifted songwritters. They enjoy performing; you can tell this when you see them live. The people behind the venues listed above already know this. Please see http://www.frecklesbrown.com/g/g.php to see what the folks that hire the band have to say about them.
Instrumentation
Fred Doughty, lead guitar, vocals; John Kraft, rhythm and accoustic guitar, vocals; Mark Robinson, bass guitar, banjo, vocals; Lyall Smith, drums and harp (at the same time), vocals.
