Meno

Genre: Singer/Songwriter
Secondary Genre: Rock Doral, Florida USA Contact

Meno's music is a blend of singer/songwriter music with Rock and Jazz: Andres with his singer/songwriter ideas, mixed with Jose's rock/fusion guitar chops, and Ritchie's Latin Jazz influenced drumming. This trio can have the sound of a simple acoustic ballad to a jazz jam to a heavier rock tune.

Biography

Meno is originally the nickname of Andres Mena the leader and frontman of the band.

Meno as a band was formed in 2008 when Andres decided to move to Florida and join forces with his older brother Jose. Together they started writing and recording the material for a their first album, which was mainly soft rock.

After the first material was written and recorded, the Mena Brothers started visiting open mics in South Florida and performing the original material and got the attention of other musicians that wanted to be a part of the project. Eventually they met drummer Ritchie Cintron that with his Jazz/Rock influenced drumming contributed to the band's overall sound.

The new material combined Andres' funky and groovy basslines with Jose's more agressive rock guitar chops, complemented by Ritchie's jazzy beats.

Meno's music falls mainly under Rock, but on certain songs the band experiments with funk, jazz and latin beats, which gives the band its distinctive and original sound.

"I am very happy with the new material we are creating, it is like taking all these musical ideas and genres and combining them into one thing, overall I guess it is rock, but we do not think of it as rock music, but rather something wider, I wish I could define it."
